Regarding requests for multiplayer
Since we're seeing a lot of requests for a multiplayer feature from all our new (and awesome/handsome/beautiful) players, we thought it would be a good idea to address it.

Most of Slime Rancher's development was done by two people so a lot of decisions were made early on to allow two developers to make a game in a realistic timeframe. One of those decisions was multiplayer vs singleplayer.

Multiplayer is inherently more complicated and time-consuming to develop. And the hundreds of physics-enabled slimes bouncing around on screen needing to be in sync across two or more clients is a fantastically difficult problem to solve. So we decided to focus on solid single player experience.

For this reason we've stated in our Official FAQ that Slime Rancher is being developed as a singleplayer game and there are no plans for multiplayer. However, anything is possible much further out if we continue to see the same level of wonderful support from players as we do now. So thanks for everything so far!

So in short, multiplayer is not ruled out, but we can't promise it either. And it is worth restating that multiplayer with all of the physics in SR is a very hard problem. SR is a very unconventional game and multiplayer support would require a very creative solution.

So thank you again for all your support and feedback. We're just as excited as you are to see what comes to the Far, Far Range next!

If I see there is an increase in new request threads I may consider a different solution. But for now, I think retirement is the best option for the 70+ pages of people in this old thread.

To reiterate the info from the post above: We know lots of players would love to see multiplayer added to Slime Rancher. However, we are still focused on developing Slime Rancher as a single-player experience right now. For more info please read the above post or our official FAQ.

Thank you for all of your continued support :)

Congrats on being able to expand your team size! But get used to the MP threads. Sadly, there are too many who will never bother reading this Pinned thread, and many more who will simply ignore it.

I love the game, love that it is Singleplayer, so I can play it to relax and laugh and have some alone time.

Keep up the great work. I program for a living, Not a game dev, because... shesh, that is more complicated that the type of programming my business does. And wha w do is very complex. Stick to your roadmap and creating your vision. Some of us really appreciate it. :)

Congradulations on getting a bigger team :D The game is so cute and awesome. :3 I think the team should focus first on a single player verison of the game and then in the future add muiltplayer if you wish. Good luck with the game :D

The more the merrier they say and that is true... Like everyone else here great job on the team size increase :D

People think that adding multiplayer is like flicking a switch which it isn't.
like you amazing devs have said there are so many factors to take it especially when it comes to muilplayer just keep doing what you best and soon the slimes shall bonce once more... Well they are bouncing even till this every second.i don't know lol

Although i fear that people will still ignore this post...
But that means my list will grow ever more.

I don't think the game particularly NEEDS multiplayer, but I find that 2-player co-op would absolutely suit the game adorably well. It would also be cool, if there was a rival mode, where each player takes care of their own ranch, but everyone influences the mart prices, and there are certain goals that have to be reached for any of the players to win (like making a certain amount of money, having one of every largo, own a certain number of regular slimes etc) - I for one would love to play the game together with my boyfriend, but I also don't mind playing it alone, while the bf plays Subnautica. Which funnily has the same problem, everyone asking for MP while the game was made with just SP in mind.. ;)

Dear monomi park. I really love the game you made. But if you don't mind I would like
if you slower the rate of feeder because my corral is full of food and then the food spoils.
I have it hard to clean it because I have a LOT of slimes. PS:I know that developing a game
is really hard and I CAN'T code so again sorry that I bother you. (Sorry for my English
its not my mother tongue).
