The game is coded in Java, using their own engine. (I backed their Kickstarter and had access to the beta).

Does that mean it will require java to run? I avoid games that use java is why I am asking they run horribly on my pc.

Hello there! A bundled Java Runtime will be included with Balrum so no need for an installed Java platform. As for performance, the engine is capable to run on really old and slow computers.

If the monsters are randomly generated every 5 mins it's a not so good selling point for me. Would like monsters who stay dead and no new generated monsters, like M&M series.

And of course achievements would be really nice, makes no sense to play now and realize that you introduce later achievements :-)

If you kill a monster in the world it stays dead. Monsters are not randomly generated they are hand placed.

Does that mean, that there will be Linux version as well?

Linux is supported, yes.

Great!
Looks like Eschalon with much more rich gameplay, very promising.

"If you kill a monster in the world it stays dead. Monsters are not randomly generated they are hand placed."

This feature, implementation is what is turning me off from the game.

Yes it's always 50:50, some users doesn't want randomly generated monsters cause it's like rogue-like and some users want random generated monsters. Ok, once monster is dead and stays dead it's maybe hard to rise your character level but you need to develop then new strategies to survive. And it's annoying to run again and again through monster infected areas to get only a plant or something in the other area cause you need it for a later quest.

Do you want diablo like game or might & magic like game? action rpg or true rpg?

Hand placed monsters don't bother me but if you ask the question of diablo or m&m then diablo wins. Also monsters only respawned in diablo if you created a new lobby/game they didn't respawn after X amount of time. In single player they stay dead and in multi they stay dead unless you leave lobby and start a new one.

Achievements are useless, you can get them for all games using some kind of achievement manager.

of course you can get them with this tool, but it's your own attitude if you stay loyal to yourself and don't cheat.

Does the devs have something to do with the team of the eschalon series? The game looks really the same (as far as graphic is going).
