Super Meat Boy
anyone using a PS3 controller?
I can't get mine to work for SMB. (I just tried it with Bastion and Dungeon Defenders and it works fine for those games). The only function I can get out of it is pressing the left stick in makes him jump. No directional control or anything. I saw the devs post about 360 controllers not working on the mac version, but they didn't mention ps3 (or assumed no one uses them?). Really interested in playing this, but not with a keyboard.

The developers apparently hard-coded the HID inputs to a 360 controller. It also doesn't look like fullscreen works (new native OR old method). I pray they see their mistake and at least give us a method to remap the keys. The analogue works, etc. Cross my fingers.

I just ran into this problem yesterday and now have the controller working. I installed MotioninJoy by following this tutorial:
http://www.gamefront.com/how-to-use-a-ps3-controller-on-a-pc/
After it's installed select the Xbox 360 controller emulator option under the Profiles tab.
One word of caution, I don't have the BT setup yet, the controller is connected via USB. There are options for BT but I can't confirm it works correctly.

Poking around further yesterday, I found this download called 'enjoy'. Basic button re-mapper. Was able to get SMB working with that (at least yesterday). I'll try MotionJoy if that doesn't consistently work. Thanks.

I use GamePad Companion on my Mac. Works great.

Reyold - Have you gotten GamePad companion to work with Super Meat Boy? I can't figure it out.

I've heard 360 controllers work. I've heard from a friend that he used a PS3 controller to play Super Meat Boy. I use the Logisuck F310 Gamepad.

The Motioninjoy gamepad tool works wonders for the PS3 controller, the 360 emulation being a big part of that.
I like the feel of the 360 gamepad and its analog sticks, but I like the placement of the analog sticks, dpad and other buttons better on the PS3 gamepad. The bluetooth is nice, since my computer has bluetooth; I don't need Microsoft's wireless dongle to get it working wirelessly. Plus you have the motion sensing, though there isn't much on PC games that would utilize it.
Motioninjoy's site gives you a pretty solid walkthrough for getting drivers set up as well: http://www.motioninjoy.com/download

I use my PS3 controller for everything from Super Meat Boy, Limbo, and Spiral Knights to Psychonauts, Half Life/Portal, and Skyrim.

I just installed SMB on my Mac Os 10.6.8 and I couldnt even find the control keys in keyboard. The game menu here only shows keys for XBox controller. Not to mention when I tried to play with my PS3 controller (which works perfectly on Bastion). So. Terrible control config. on Mac OS X.

I use my PS3 controller to play almost everything on Steam, coupled with the Cronus adapter to switch the triggers round.

Yeah, but does that map the keys as well? cos thats the issue i have. found a way to use the Enjoy program, but that's quite a hassle to set up.

360 controller ftw, I don't know why you'd use anything else. Cheapo PS3 controller copies from Logitech have been working well for me as well over the past years, though.

So close to this working without any controller mapping software! I know this is an old post but I figured i'd put it up just incase anyone can figure out the last part?

for SMB with PS3 controller on a mac go to:

/Users/{YOUR_USERNAME}/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/super\ meat\ boy/SuperMeatBoy.app/Contents/MacOS/buttonmap.cfg

open the file with text editor and change the buttons under gamepad to:

jump="10";
special="9";

now R1 is jump & L1 is special, which is a little odd, as according to gamepad companion button 10 should be R2 and 9 should be L2. But it works, so what the hell...

The problem is that this only works for the first level you play. Meaning as soon as you beat a level, only R1 works as it should. Any ideas why this might be?
