If you leave it alone for a few minutes, does it eventually say something about an "SQL Error"?

Okay it says, "SQL server error a connection to the SQL server could not be established".

It's failing to connect to Super Meat World. We fixed this for Linux and Mac, but the Windows version still does this. In theory, you should be able to carry on once this error message pops up, though (as long as you don't actually go into Super Meat World, of course).

Unless it's a firewall thing, it might just be the server was down and it'll come back up. Try opening port 3306 on your firewall if things get desperate, though.

NO. NEVER DO THAT. EVER. NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE EVER ALT + TAB SUPER MEAT BOY!!!!!! NEVER!! The game will crash incredibly which will result in error messages. When I did it, I got a tiny smb window which was black, with an error message and my cursor dissapears when I go into that screen. Ended up having to restart my PC because I couldn't close it, and task manger was absoluteley no help since it appeared BEHIND the window i couldn't move :/.

Problem solved. Just leaving it up in hopes that it helps other people.
