Crashes on startup

SMB hangs on the first loading screen after showing me the controller, and I have to end the program to get out of it. Anybody know a fix for this? I tried the one recommended on PC Gaming Wiki but it did not work

If you didn't fix it, Psycho, you could try doing this (which did, eventually, work for me)

Right click SMB in your games list.
Click Properties
Click 'Set launch options' or parameters or whatever
type this exactly, ignoring the quotation marks "-windowed -highdetail -640x480"

When the game launches it will be low res in a window, but you can change those settings in-game

Oh, big thanks, by setting correct launch options, it stopped crashing at startup :) (i.e., only "-1366x768")

I have the same problem (ish) but when I change it to full screen it blackscreens and I get a message saying fatal error
