Cloud Saves wiped my desktop saves

I did the main story and finished the forst world on my Mac machine however,I launched the game on Windows before they finished cloud storage and now the Windows save has wiped my Mac save meaning I lost A LOT of progress.

This post is really a last cry for help as I've checked the save location and its definitely been changed, so unless anyone knows a way to retrieve them I think I may be out of luck :(
