Zero Reflex

I have reached the final level of Zero Reflex.
For the past 4 days I have been trying to complete this game nonstop. I have figured out and mastered every possible pattern. I am capable of flawlessly completing every stage with the exception of those which rely heavily on RNG, such as "Octopus", "Trapezoids", "Snake", and "Red Triangles" - and even these levels I can beat, though less frequently. The last level of the game is fixed, the "Rockets" level, and is actually one of the easiest levels in the game - only requiring a couple of well-timed keystrokes. The problem here, is that the game has an incredible issue when it comes to input detection. Meaning, I can press a movement key identically two times in a row, and the distance I travel is going to vary. This makes the "Rockets" level simply impossible, unless you have an insane amount of luck - even more so than any RNG-based level, as it requires perfect movement. When you die, of course, you get sent back, and have to again make your way to the top without knowing if the game is going to let you pass at the very end.

I have been recording my journey thus far, and will continue to try to get past the final level. In my mind, though, I have beaten this game already, for there is simply nothing I can do that would prevent the game from killing me in the last level - it all comes down to "luck."

Hopefully the developers fix the extremely shoddy input detection, as it is preventing me from legitimately finishing this.

Thank you.

"This video has been removed because it is too long."
Guess it has to be really long then.

I went ahead and uploadedd level 1-19 I had highlighted a week ago and my attempt of 20 if anyone wants to see those levels on youtube. It might not be searchable yet, but if you find my zero reflex perfect nightmare run, click my name, you can find it on my profile.

Just searched up the videos, didn't know about that trick with the clock level at the start, Just tried it out myself and it works. Huh, that would have made that level a lot nicer.

Very nice, I had no idea the clipping the clock level happened, weird, hope you don't get disqualified for that. I can see why you had trouble with 20 as the positioning you needed for your solution was pixel precise, atleast when I measured the space provided it was. Also didn't know the bouncy ball level was the same every time, huh, would have been benificial to actually sit down and solve it then.

Yeah, there is an off-chance where you can actually clip through the upper left hand, but it's not consistent, so that wasn't part of my intended strategy, as you can tell from the other clock attempts in the video. The bouncy balls level isn't RNG, otherwise it would've been damn near impossible. It's just proper movement and positioning, so the bullets don't screw you over.

Man, watched your videos and they're incredible. Fascinated to see how some of your tactics differed from my own. :D

I'm sure they'll find some way to prevent giving him the money. Take it from the guy who beat the game 4 hours after it was put up on steam. I'm fairly confident I was the first to complete nightmare mode but alas I was disqualified for "cheating."

I understand the contest rules state that Adminde has the right to claim anything he deems as cheating to be grounds for disqualification, but come on, Adminde, pause buffering has been a strategy to win these sorts games for over 20 years, and there have been countless games before "Zero Reflex" that addressed the issue simply by controlling the pause mechanics. There is nobody else at fault here besides your programmer(s).

In my opinion, I was scammed. Many people were scammed.

During these last few days, every death made me feel like giving up. I was pretty much a zombie. My whole Christmas was basically this game, as was New Year's, and all the days in between.

I truly do hope you win this contest as it seems you put in a lot of your time into it, even over the holidays. Keep us updated with what you get back from the devs.

@Jigglybits

Yeah, I find it really hard to believe that they overlooked pause buffering as a method to beat certain levels. The fact that they later increased the difficulty via a patch, and then finally removed pause buffering is... I don't know... a bit off.

I'll keep you updated, for sure. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon.
