Report a translation problem
1. Right click on game in steam libaray
2. properties
3. local files tab
4. verify integerity of local game files
Also on a side note this happened to me a few years back, and it was caused by the graphics card, not sure what the fix was. Because one day it just started working again.
Things i tried was
1. Reinstall game
2. Reinstalll graphics card
3. Deleated "game.prefs" located here C:\Users\(*YOUR USER NAME*\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander 2.... And then verified local games files
I did the following:
1- Uninstall SC2
2- Install SC2 (but now on SSD)
3- Uninstall GPU driver
4- Install GPU driver

sorry for necroing to nitpick, but Valve didn't make the game, and didn't write the code... What you did is synonymous to blaming GameStop because a game you bought is buggy.
If you want to blame a company, blame the company that developed the game.
in anycase, hope your game works now,a s it is quite fun once it does.
