Stuck at Vault City
Spoilers, read at your own discretion.

So, to find a GECK, I apparently need to discover the location of another Vault, most likely 13. I've been to Vault city, but the first citizien kicked me out because I tried to obtain the parts to repair the power plant at Gecko, what's the best course of action to get into Vault city's vault and read the main computer?

I've considered just fighting my way in, but those turrets give me the creeps and the guards are tough, I only have Vic with a hunting rifle, Sulik with his default stuff and a MSG I looted off some random slaver caravan, and myself with the .44(Apparently a very powerful gun for most of the game).

Minor spoiler: The vault is perhaps less important than you might think, and you should be fine if you just continue your search in other locations.
Medium-size spoiler: If you do want to get inside, I'm aware of one quick and non-violent way to do that by exploiting a certain game mechanic, not sure if I should elaborate on that any further.

Please do, I feel obliged to help out the Ghouls over at Gecko out, since I kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the situation.

I'm fairly certain that you refer to Buying fake documents from Wallace outside the main city gates I'll try that now.

Approach the guards as close as possible without them getting angry at you, start the combat mode, run into the vault doors past the guards. Fin.
Just a heads up there may very well be more "honest" ways to get in there, and I don't know them.
Lynette is the wrong person to ask for help regarding the ghouls' situation (in fact, she simply says to disable the plant and kill any ghoul who gets in your way), McClure on the left is who you really should look for as long as your dialogue choices are polite. In fact, he can make you a Citizen out of good will to cooperate with individuals who *used* to look human but are still so on the inside.

So yeah, I attacked Vault city, massacred the three guards by the entrance, geared up on their higher tier loot(assault rifles and a deagle), then snuck in without my companions and the last bit just made a mad dash for the vault and locked myself in. Gunned down a nurse and looted some healing supplies off her, and was about to gun down the doctor when I had to quit.

Thanks Mr. Bishop! That'll teach those self-righteous Vault SH*Tizens... of course, this isn't an uncommon decision although means the NCR can no longer expand just right.

I gunned down half a dozen guards on the way out, and Sulik decided to tear trough some civilians. Oh well, I'm loaded with cash now.

In the meanwhile, Sulik died while I was clearing Metzger and his goons out of Den(Succesfully, I denied the 1000 bucks from B over at the bar, but I got 2000 off that gambler, also plasma grenade and microfusion cells).

Now I'm running quests for the Wrights in NR, I need to get past two of those turrets, but I have no long-distance weaponry, so I'll have to make a stimpak-induced dash for the entrance. (Also, found a rocket launcher, but my aim is so piss-poor that I can't possibly clear a turret).

Scoped hunting rifle and/or sniper rifle, the former needs to be upgraded by Algernon (unless you killed him), Buster in NCR's bazaar, or Skeeter in Gecko, you can find one of the latter at Vault 15. Is your Small Guns skill at 40% or something? I pump it to around +65% and pick up a hunting rifle so I can shoot things easier while piercing some armor from .223 FMJ... wait 'til I find that gun!

I have small guns at 100%, but my strength is 4 and I'm not at level 14 yet so I can't get that perk. But I picked up a rocketlauncher at the military base which I'll be selling in Reno.

You don't have Gain Strength and your starting one was 4? Also, you can ask Cassidy to snipe the turrets if you set his combat control to Ranged and "Snipe the enemy" or "Stay where you are" if you notice he tries moving closer.

The easiest thing I do is instead of his usual combat controls, I have direct control of my companions which the latest Sfall[sourceforge.net] versions supply.

Cassidy? Don't know 'im. I'm doing this playtrough blind, so excuse me for lack of knowledge.
I got my hands on a sniper rifle in vault 15, but I have trouble getting out past the horde of khan raiders on level 1(I have a level-up perk to spend but I don't know for which one to go)... little more than 'just' trouble.

I've tried to get trough level 1 twenty times already, I keep getting burstfired for 40-50 health(I have 59 health) and never make it past the vault entrance. I try to use my super stim, but I generally die before I can refill.

Dontcha know Cassidy? The father of Sharon Cassidy, Rose?... Oh well, I've read a lot in the Fallout Bible[www.google.se] from Chris Avellone, and New Vegas makes mention of him and his daughter.

Are you sure you didn't want to reload a save so you could help those ghouls in Gecko? It's always important to be mindful in the towns, as becoming enemies with one disables access to potential quests.

As I said, I'm playing blind. No reloads unless necessary.
...And as I said: First Citizen Lynette is the wrong person to ask for help regarding the chemical plant, someone else in the Central Council might have better care for ghouls.
