Fallout 2

This Game is too buggy, Deleted local content.
I own a disk copy of Fallout 1, 2, and Tactics. It must be patched to work on my Win7 laptop. But, once patched it runs perfectly fine. I am a HUGE fan of the Fallout series. So, I purchased the fallout bundle through Steam. Unfortunately it is unplayable! Seriously, it crashes every 10 to 15 mins. It freezes during combat and locks up my laptop, I have to reboot just to unlock it. I have never experienced so many problems with my disk versions after they are patched. So, why is the supposed updated Steam version so messed up?

Hey

Did you use Killap's Fallout 2 Restoration Project / Unofficial Fallout 2 patch?
The purpose of this project was to add back into Fallout 2 all the missing content (locations, NPCs, items, etc.), that were pulled or left unfinished in the original game, as well as fix some bugs where possible. This expansion attempted to stay true to what made Fallout great and thus the new content was going to be a reality of what the original developers wanted.

"Project Restoration" is a self-contained installer. Just download and install it in your Fallout 2 directory: (NOTE: You'll need to start a new game)
  • 1) Go to - http://www.killap.net/
  • 2) "Downloads" Tab > Fallout 2 Restoration Project > Windows installer: download (~200 MB)
  • 3) Open the application....Next....
  • 4) Install it in your Fallout 2 directory ......steamapps\common\Fallout 2
  • 5) Open Fallout 2 from Steam (as usual) - At the bottom right of the main in-game menu, you should see text confirming the latest version; currently - "Fallout II 1.02.31" "RP 2.3.3" "SFALL 3.3s"
  • 6) Enjoy :)

Ok, I have about 8hrs into Fallout 2: Restoration project version and I have 2 compliants. The first is Kaga, what a pain in the ass. He will not die, he hits for 30+ damage and a crit hit on full auto burst with an assault rifle only does 12 damage to him. Most hits do no damage. So I litterally spent over an hour trying to travel from Vault City to NCR without getting myself or my NPC's getting killed by him before we were able to flee. BS, thats what that is. Second now NONE of my saved games will load! Not my primary, not my backup, and not my backup's backup. So, anyways, I'm fed up with Fallout 2, I won't be playing it again anytime soon, but when I do I'm going back to the disk version. It may not have all the extra content and a lot of bugs. But at least I won't have to restart my game halfway through.
The problems you have are the reason starting with the unofficial patch first is recommended, otherwise you'd end up like you did right now.

So there was a Steam update of this game the other day. Now, I can no longer save my load or save a game. I started a new game and I get an error messege stating "unable to save game". WTF Steam, seriously!?

This is a good Mod/Restoration Indeed A must have for the True Fallout fan As all this content was mainly only removed because of time restraints which is surprising that they only released FO2 One year after FO Classic/One If they took 2 years it could have been a way better game
While still keeping Interplays Game Making time Still shorter than bethesda with it still being polished.

I am using Killap's Fallout 2 Restoration Project / Unofficial Fallout 2 patch. I was having an issue with FO2 crashing every 30 seconds. I deleted local content then redownloaded the game and added Killap's Fallout 2 Restoration Project / Unofficial Fallout 2 patch. I started a new game and it worked perfectly for 1 day. The next morning, none of the 3 seperate saved games would load. Not sure what to do next.

It's funny actaully I killed him the first time you encounter him, it just depends how lucky you get.
