Fallout won't run for me D;

I currently am trying to run Fallout (original) on my Windows 7 pc. I have already switched Steam to compatibility mode, and i've tried playing the game in both modes and it still will not even try to play. Steam makes it seem like the game is loading and about to launch and then nothing.... not even an error.

My monitor goes into sleep mode when I try to launch the game. I can bring it back on with ctrl+alt+del but it takes me to my log in then back to sleeping when I try to log in.

Have you tried running f1_res_config from the Steam directory?

Just make sure to set it to your native resolution, and that the high-res patch is enabled. It's worked for me before.
