Ok, good to know ill modify the settings today and play it on 14.04 . little I was on it seem really smooth. I will also test to see whats required on opensuse for it to load up. (Incase down the road anyone needs help with that.)
Thats why I like the Linux guys!
Super JCD - let me know if you get it up and running.
The savegame location on linux is:
/home/dejaime/.local/share/The Brotherhood/Stasis/Savegames/
where "dejaime" is my username
or simply
~/.local/share/The Brotherhood/Stasis/Savegames/
Would you please edit that savegame list topic to add that?
Thank you again!
However, sometimes even that doesn't appear - e.g. in the "Serv.Lobby 1" level (where we find the dead nurse and the children's body bags), John doesn't speak at all, and the error message when trying to use the biometric terminal is completely missing, too.
Different languages appear to be affected differently - e.g. in the infirmary "autodoc" room, the "Infirmary is closed...." message is displayed in "German" mode (still no audio), but is completely missing when "French" is selected...
An additional observation: if a translated text appears, it will not go away by itself - until we leave the room (which means that the "Save/Load" menu and the escape key are disabled until we do so).
[Edit:]
The problem (no spoken dialog) doesn't always happen; steps to reproduce:
- load game (in "English" mode)
- select "German"
- load a saved game
--> spoken dialog with German text works fine
- exit game
- (we're still in "German" mode)
- load the same saved game
--> no spoken dialog, just text (if even that)
Thanks. Is this from an old save. Ie not made with this version of the game? Either from an older Linux release of stasis or downloaded from the savegame list? I think it may be a version issue with the save games. I may need to recreate some stock saves for Linux users instead of the windows Mac saves.
The other issue is loading older saves not created on this Linux build MAY cause compatibility issues, my recommendation is to play the game from the start on this fresh build and not use your old saves or saves downloaded from the net. This is due to the Linux engine being a much later build in comparison to the Windows/Max build.
Clear out your bookmark.dat and savegame.dat files from:
/home/xxx/.local/share/The Brotherhood/Stasis/Savegames/
where "xxx" is the username
or simply
~/.local/share/The Brotherhood/Stasis/Savegames/
I just tried the following:
- completely delete the ~/.local/share/The Brotherhood/Stasis folder
- start the game, select "German"
- spoken English dialog, German text translation, as expected
- after the "plug suit" dialog (monologue?) ends, save the game
- exit the game
- restart the game, select "continue" (or load the saved game)
- from now on, no more spoken dialog...
My first thought was that a mismatch between "current" language settings and the language in the saved game caused the problem - but that's not the case in this test run.
[Edit:]
Actually, you don't even need a saved game to reproduce the bug:
- completely delete the ~/.local/share/The Brotherhood/Stasis folder
- start the game, select "German"
- after the "plug suit" dialog (monologue?) ends, exit the game
- restart the game, select "new game"
- from now on, no more spoken dialog...
To fix it, you can change the language back to english, load the game and then switch the language and it works again. I have Zero idea what is causing that! :)
It is as stable on 14.04 as it is on mint 18.1 is my conclusion I will run the same levels again on Opensuse, but I see no reason why it would have an issue.
Thanks for your hardwork brotherhood.
One question is thier suppose to be an icon showing on the bottom left so you know to put the mouse down their? I ask because it did not show up on mint or ubuntu, but intially was showing up on opensuse which made sense to , but bit into game it disapeared on open suse to.
Hardware used AMD 8120 16GB Nvidia GTX760
On Mint and Ubuntu I used the proprietry drivers 375.66 on mint and I believe it is same driver on the ubuntu (I will update here when I check.)
Other then icon on bottom left not being their. I do run the game inwindow mode everything else seem to work really smooth.
On Open Suse , I decided to leave the opensource driver on their that I recently had to install to see how the game works on the Nouveau driver .
Seem to work great and maybe a little better as I did for a short while have the icon so I knew whewre to click to look at my inventory. Although I notice about 20 minutes in that the icon was no longer their.
Hope any of that is a help to someone and really wondering if anyone has that icon or if its gone for everyone else to?
