Long load times
I have a Core i7-6700K @ 4.0 GHz running Win10 64 bits with 32 Gigs or RAM and a GTX1080.
Yet, Tyranny takes up to 1 full minute to load a level. Is that normal?
Games like Fallout 4, Battlefield 1, or Dishonored 2 all perform much better in that regard.

Those specs don't help much with loading, put game on ssd.

Do you have SSD or "traditional" hard disk? Tends to affect load times a lot more than CPU or GPU in asset heavy, graphics light games.

Its actually a bug in the UNITY engine. PARADOX had this to say about it:

We've determined that there is a Unity issue that was fixed for Pillars of Eternity, but has since regressed to a non-working state in the newer version of Unity we're using for Tyranny. The problem is that the mechanism we're using to load character portrait art (and potentially a few other things) from disk can also be used to download files from servers. Because of this, Unity queries the Windows Proxy Settings for the currently logged-in user prior to deciding that it needs to load the file from disk instead. On some users' machines, the contents of the Windows Network Connections will include entries generated by third-party software such as LogMeIn Hamachi and VMWare. The Windows function that Unity uses to get the Proxy Settings for the user tends to hang for long periods of time if it encounters one of those third-party network connections. It's probably not able to get what it wants and just ends up waiting for a timeout. I suggest looking in Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center to see if there are any network connections added by third-party software. If there are, try disabling them to see if it fixes the problem. Please let us know what you find.

Here is a work around: Unplug your internet. It worked for me. It has something to do with requesting data through the web instead of from your harddrive. I unplugged my internet and now it loads in seconds instead of minutes. It's not ideal but it makes the game playable.

Good luck

I have it on SSD and it's alright, sometimes 10 seconds max

Ok, I might have to put it on SSD then. But it's funny. All my games are on a traditionnal Hard Drive. Tyranny is the only one being slow to load like that. It seems like a bug. I will try to unplug the Net.

I have play games made with Unity e.g. POE, Corpse Party Blooddrive, Wasteland 2 (xbox). They all have long load times. So i think it just Unity it self, it the only thing common with 3 the games above.

Ah good point. I could try Wasteland 2 or POE to see.

Unity but besides, i always test games on normal hard drive and if they're slow i move then to the ssd. In this case having remembered Pillars, i made some space on the ssd directly and it helps a lot.

I think it's a unity engine thing... a lot of my unity engine games have long load times (pillars, wasteland, tyranny).

Loading the spire from main menu in tyranny takes just over 1.5 minutes :/ (HDD, not ssd). However, other rpgs like Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 load from main menu to in game in under 25 seconds. Yet Pillars and Tyranny easily take 1 minute, sometimes more just to load.. and wasteland 2 was well over a mintue as well on some maps.

If I quick load once I'm in the game, it is better.. about 15 to 25 seconds.. however, if I exit to main menu, then load a save... well over 1 minute.

No other modern games take me longer than half a minute to load a save file.. except tyranny and pillars of eternity. I highly suspect it is a unity engine thing (in contrast, Divinity Original Sin, a RPG that came out about the same time as pillars of eternity takes less than 10 seconds to load a save file from main menu).

Wow, you aren't kidding.. I went into offline mode on steam, turned off paradox connection... load time from main menu to spire now takes 32 seconds instead of 1.5 minutes.

There has to be another way to fix this than shutting off your Internet?

And here I thought Im the only one.
Hitman loads in seconds while Tyrany loads in 5 minutes. Very annoying to even start the game

Untill patched I think going offline while playing is the only solution.
