Known linux issues
If the game doesn't start:

* Make sure you have "libtcmalloc-minimal4:i386" installed. (Ubuntu package, if you are using something else, use the relevant library in your distro.)
* Make sure you have graphics card drivers in order.
* Make sure you have correct system specs.

If none of these help. Open terminal and cd into the game folder (under ~/.steam/...) and run ./bms.sh and post the output here.

Please provide your system specs, OS and driver versions.

Shadow errors:

There might be some minor shadow errors left in the game, if you happen to get these, try to lower/change your shadow detail in the options menu.

VOIP doesn't work:

This will be fixed in the future patches.

Crashes during helicopter explosion

This problem has been fixed and is released in the next patch.

Adding mat_queue_mode "1" in autoexex.cfg fixes many crashes (common source engine problem on linux)

My game appears to be crashing randomly within the chamber where the reaction is occurring. It also crashed initially. Installing the package mentioned above to see if that fixes those issues.

EDIT: Adding the line Mr. Nice mentioned to the config.cfg file (it's linked in the autoexec.cfg file he mentioned; also in same directory) fixed the sporatic crashes to desktop.

I thought i might add something, today when i played the game the soldiers wearing gas masks came up untextured as either white, red or blue. I verified the cache, problem fixed. That, or it could have been the restart that fixed it, either way thought i would say something.

According to Debian. This is aquired from gpertools, formely known as google-perftools. Which it is still called in Gentoo. It does provide libtcmalloc.so.4 and others in Gentoo. Haven't tried it yet, but since they finally released a Linux Client going to buy it soon to support them since they supported us. Unless someone can confirm or deny my assumption, I will let you know if works on mine after buy it. Using Gentoo Linux.
*** Bought game, playing. Keep crashing after press rotor start button and climb down ladder. Then scientist say "Well take it from here Gordon." Has crashed twice so far. But it is working. Need to go look at the info they want for crashes.

Try adding setting mat_queue_mode to 1. We will look into this problem in more detail internally.

Game keeps crashing to the desktop when entering the room with the 3 scientists just before the test chamber.
Scientist says "I just sent the sample down to the test chamber", then poof.

Having the same problem. Adding the mat_queue_mode "1" line didn't help.

The Game says it is running, but nothing happens. Using FX 8320 16GB and R9 290 mesa 13.0.1 LLVM 3.9. I did install the 32bit version of libtcmalloc-minimal4 for my OS. ldd shows no missing lib files.

You are probably starting the game with the bms_linux and/or you have broken download of the game.

Use the ./bms.sh if you are starting the game from the command-line.

Right you are sir. When I run the bms.sh script, the game will launch although it does take awhlie. However launching the game from steam still does nothing, just says running but never loads. I will launch steam from terminal and see if it gives me any feedback.

Issue resolved, running steam from terminal was showing that it was not loading the opengl driver, so I renamed libstdc++.so.6 in /Black Mesa/bin/ and it worked, I thought I would have been in the clear from this due to running steam-native from arch. That and launch directly from bms.sh did not present this issue. Thanks for the assistance, time to enjoy the game!
