invalid cd key?

so i bought this game a few years back and i got a new laptopand installed it, when i went to play it it said that the cd key was invalid and shut down....how can i fix this or who do i contact to get a new one without having to buy anotherone.....thanx

when you log on to steam you have them retrive old account. they will send a code through the old email account that you had at the time you bought the game
