Introducing the Moschops!
A new Dino Dossier has been revealed, this one is everyone’s favourite fleeing foodie, the Moschops!
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=663903001
Common Name: Moschops
Species: Moschops cibumutante
Time: Mid Permian
Diet: Omnivore
Temperament: Cowardly

Wild:

Moschops cibumutante in the wild is a lethargic, cowardly creature that primarily lives in the forests of the island, primarily making its home among the great redwoods of the West. It survives by being extremely flexible in its eating habits and completely averse to fighting. It never starves, since it can eat just about anything. Moschops runs at the slightest provocation, but is still often preyed upon.

Domesticated:

What makes Moschops particularly interesting is what it can be trained to do with its eating habits. With a versatile palate and tough teeth, Moschops can be tamed for a unique ability: over time it can be taught exactly which things to gnaw, increasing the likelihood of harvesting that exact resource which its master desires. For example, teach it to prioritize chewing Prime Meat, and Prime Meat will be easier to harvest from the flesh it consumes. Likewise for rare plants materials, and so forth!

Just don't expect Moschops to protect, though. Even after taming, it will quickly flee when enemies are nearby. Regardless of being fed well, increasing its strength, or how much affection you shower on it--Moschops retains its inherent cowardly nature!

I doubt it, it'll probably have some kind of "run timer" or something that will have it stop running a set time after its last hit. Or maybe it'll just stop when you whistle for it.

Sounds like a pokemon, looks like a overweight iguana. o.o

Sounds cool enough

Unless we can change what resources it harvests more than once, I don't think I'll be taming this. If it's just a set thing where you can only get it to harvest one thing and then it's stuck with it, then it doesn't sound that useful, unless it's an early game tame.

Doesn't sound like it can only harvest its favored thing, more like it will have an increased rate of gathering that particular one, while retaining default values for other harvestables it has access to.
So if a blank one was to get, say, 10 raw and 1 prime, a prime-trained one would get 10 raw and 3 prime, or something along those lines.
That's how I read it, anyway.

Plus, even just having something that harvests both plant and animal matter is a new convenience, this sounds like a fun little thing for lazy people such as myself.

....or you could just tame more than 1??

The thing is, it's probably not gonna harvest things as well as other dinos. For example, I doubt it harvests as much wood as a beaver. If it doesn't have the ability to get the harvesting buff on everything, then it doesn't sound that useful, unless you're just starting out.

Still too early to speculate or assume either way. You may very well be able to train it to gather more prime meat than a rex can get, for example. In that case it would be extremely useful for someone who doesn't have a giga (I dont have one but I am assuming they gather more meat/prime meat than a rex).

New mechanic sounds very interesting, and probably most useful for Fish Prime. Just gonna have to wait until closer to release to find out more about how it will work I guess.

And for those wondering, that's pretty much what all large Permian herbivores looked like more or less. They were kinda fat and stocky looking.
