There may also be naturally spawning beehives that work similarly to beaver dams, which will be guarded by an alpha "queen bee" that will drop a pheromone sac. There will also be craftable bee farms that you can supply with Rare Flowers, Amarberries and the Pheromone sac that Bees will be attracted to over the player for you to gather honey from, which can be used as a consumable or an ingredient for remedies or as a crafting material for a cementing paste substitute.
Yes!! :D
Though to be entirely honest I would kinda like to see this happen, especially in the redwood forests.
It was a yes of excitement. I love the pheromones idea! They could be hive specific and perhaps turned into perfume so anyone who approached your base, or maybe just the bee box, without one would be considered hostile or something.
It would be super fun if they implemented this. I've loved bees in Minecraft and Don't Starve, in Ark they would fit right in for sure.
Really what we need is to take your idea and apply it to Titanomyrmas. Essentially they'd live in anthills that would behave like beaver dams, though the resources you can find would include thatch, perhaps spoiled meat, and grubs for kibble. Ant behavior would need to change so that they essentially ignore you while on their own but when in groups or when you raid a nest or accidentally hit one they attack in a swarm like actual ants. They also need to have some sort of swarming AI that can be sent out from an anthill to kill and harvest resources en masse in an area as their anthill grows; the big counter of course being that in the future a dino, bird, or prehistoric beasty should be implemented to act as a giant anteater, such as the big ground sloth Megatherium.
Though I... really do want bees. ;~;
Lets add a peanut plant too.
Honey + Corn = Breakfast.
Bear gets a bonus for harvesting hives.
