I searched online and I read that the dutch traders could show up at around 1560 I think or close to it, or 10 years after the portuguese. I would like to use the gunpowder units without being catholic and I already conquered pretty much all of the map. I can end it, I'm just delaying at this point. The year is 1577 and they never showed up once. Does anyone know what happened? I'm playing with the Mori if that's relevant but I don't think so....

So, I bought this as my intro into the Total War games, I'd had my eye on them for a while but never got around to actually buying them. I know I'm doing something wrong because even when I greatly outnumber the enemy I will invariably get my ass kicked. How do I, y'know, be good at the game? Even the single skirmish battle gamemode I haven't managed to win a single battle yet. The autoresolve is better than me ffs....

A few months ago, I remember the controls to this game working just fine. Now, when I try to move any troops in any game mode, they will not move. Clicking on a spot on the actual terrain does nothing. Instead, I have to click on the radar screen if I want them to move at all. I cannot click and drag to adjust their formations either. This first Total War title is also among the best Total War title in the whole series, is there any chance for this to be remastered ?

I haven't played this game too much (40 hours vs 350 in medieval 2 and about 900 combined between Rome and Rome Remastered) But I've been really enjoying it on and off over the years. However, I always felt that since both take 2 turns to recruit, it was always easier to just take Samurai over Ashigaru. Sure, Samurai cost more but if you have good income, which is really not that hard in this game, it doesn't really matter. Is there some sort of reason I'm missing to take Ashigaru?...
