I've played Skyrim with the Requiem mod installed - you know, the mod that makes dragons completely indestructible, makes it completely impossible to sneak up on anyone, EVER, adds a HUGE FREAKIN' ARMY of bandits/draugrs to every bandit hideout or ancient ruin, and oh yeah... makes every arrow fired at you an instant death sentence, no matter where it hits you.

And yet, somehow, even that was a less frustrating experience than this piece of crap game was.

The one time I was ever actually able to do fairly well, I found myself locked out of a quest to kill some bandits roaming the woods, because the game will only let you encounter them before you reach level 6. So not only am I forced to wave goodbye to a 3000 gold reward, but I'm stuck with that quest in my log forever, and can never complete it. Furthermore, I basically have a choice between doing that and saving a little girl's lost dog. I can't do both, because the dog will die after 4 days, and it takes FOREVER for the blasted bandit group to show up. And don't even get me started on the blasted hunger system or the fact that you can forget spells after a while.

But if all that's not bad enough, even when I'm able to save my progress, I have to kill myself in order to reload my saved game, without overwriting it.

All in all, great game concept, but TERRIBLE execution.

I may have put 300+ hours into this game, but it was very frustrating until I found out about save scumming. Refering to the wiki is a must even for basic things like figuring out if you can eat something or not.

The main setback is having achievements disabled in classic mode, forcing you to complete the game with permadeath activated to get achievements. This is near impossible, which is why I resorted to save scumming.

If you're willing to cheat a little or care little enough for achievements to play classic, it's quite a nice game though.

It's not really good. Its biggest failure lies in the fact that you are expected either to metagame a whole lot (which isn't especially engaging and doesn't feel rewarding at all) or to invest hundreds of hours into this.
The gameplay itself (at least whenever you play a melee-focused character, which was what I mostly did) is just dull. Spam numpad key to pwn some goblin/orc/whatever until you make a wrong turn and suddenly there's an ogre emperor (whoever that is) going all over your business.
The narrative is non-existent, the quests suck, there's an infamous exclusivity of quests in the first settlement you find, which doesn't make a whole lotta sense from neither the gameplay nor narrative standpoint, which ties into the bigger problem of feeling like the game just wants to screw you over (vile spirits, cat lord, first kill mechanic, teleportitis and teleport control intrinsics, gorgon, ruined libram, some immensely bad crowning rewards that feel like a natural slap in the face).
Then there's also the tedium of having to backtrack constantly to your stash of gear or to the closest altar, and traversing all those levels of dungeons you've cleared tens of thousands of turns ago that are now populated with weak mobs who don't pose any challenge to you, but waste a lot of your time. The game pretends to be deep but it really isn't. In fact, it's quite shallow, there's no real difference between playing gnome, dwarf of troll monk, it's just filler, you're gonna want to get the same items anyway (and then you'll get gauntlets of peace as your crowning gift).
Overall, the ratio of tedium to enjoyment is just not good enough, most of the time it really feels like playing hardcore Diablo with *much* worse gamefeel.

本作是將 1994 年的 ADOM 圖像化後的 D&D 類型遊戲。可以選擇的種族與職業非常多樣，技能種類也頗為豐富。個人沒有經歷過舊版遊戲的年代，但這款遊戲該有的 D&D 要素都有。骰子機制被隱藏在遊戲背後的邏輯運算，沒有顯示出來，這點就見仁見智。語言只有英文，不過只要你能看懂遊戲常見的單字，基本上玩起來沒什麼障礙。

然而，遊戲缺點非常多。首先， UI 操作也非常不直覺，遊戲中的各種功能被分配在鍵盤上莫名其妙的位置，完全沒有經過優化和統合。角色中毒難解，補血方式不夠方便。蟻穴無限量產螞蟻，放著不管螞蟻又會破壞地下城牆壁，強迫症玩家難以接受。掉落的裝備有 10% 機率帶有詛咒，裝備後無法脫下，但是只有當玩家脫下裝備時才知道該裝備是否帶有詛咒，非常噁心人。遊戲成就必須玩 HARD 難度才能解鎖，但是 HARD 難度又非常容易死亡，這導致我每打完一兩場戰鬥就必須備份存檔。最勸退的是，點擊地面移動角色，常常碰到 Bug 觸發 Auto-Expore 功能，非常影響體驗。

有鑿於以上的缺點，個人不推薦本作給一般玩家，但如果你是喜歡 D&D 的硬核玩家，可以嘗試看看。建議入包或骨折價入手。

I like the idea of figuring out how things work. What I don't like is where this is done pointlessly (why no clear explanation on how to actually use a wand or how to give a command?) or in ways where there wasn't any intuitive way to figure something out except by killing one's self (turns out a magic missile can reflect back off a wall and kill the PC???).

Es un juego con muchas mecanicas y muy interesante, pero logra tirar a la basura esa 2 cosas gracias a la estupida dificultadad que tiene, normalmente no me molesta que los juegos sean desafiantes, ya que con cada muerte aprendes algo nuevo y avanzas mas. El problema es que aca aprendes cosas nuevas y no podes avanzar, porque las dungeons y los enemigos son generados al azar, por lo que podes estar matando todo de 2 hits y de la nada el mismo goblin que ya mataste cientos de veces ahora te hace la mitad de tu vida en daño en 1 hit, obligandote a correr o morir, pero cuando te vas corriendo el juego hace RNG con otro personaje, que tambien podias matar de 1 hit, encerrandote y matandote sin ninguna razon.
Que aprendes de esa experiencia? Nada, ya que estabas en la primera cueva del juego consiguiendo niveles asi no te pasaba exactamente lo mismo en las dungeon de mas late en el juego, que tiene enemigos realmente rotos.
Muy pero muy malo, aunque me parece una experiencia unica como juego no se lo recomendaria ni a mi peor enemigo. 3/10

The Linux version does not properly render text. Sometimes text in menus is fine, other times it's completely unreadable. The bug has been well known since 2019 (there is a Steam discussion thread with hundreds of posts from people experiencing this) and has yet to be fixed.

I have a pretty damm good pc but this game still somehow lags my pc to death...
