Its the 5th & last Game of the 3D Series in 2010 by Ubisoft Montreal (Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Rainbow Six)

++ Story is good, but only a bad/ sad Ending available, an alternate good ending is missing (with Malick & Razzia & maybe a Comeback of the Djinns)

++ Graphic (best Game of the Series, but yeah 10 years old, still fine)

+ Sound is good for Immersion, but its more subtle than outstanding

++ Gameplay is fine (2 Difficulties, Upgrade System, better Movements, Camera not always perfect, Elements)

+ Extras (21 well hidden Orb Sarcophagus, but no good Ending, Challenge Mode for Expansion Orbs)

+ New Game plus to start on Normal with Upgrades, since you cant get all Upgrades in 1 Run

+/- no FIVE (5) Trading Cards

+/- Controls changed a little bit in Contrast to Original Sand of Time Trilogy, so a few Mistakes at Start after playedSoT, WW, TTT before, but, easy to learn

-- a little bit short like Sand of Time, if you rush through it can done in 5-7 Hours

- only 1 Save Slot, but automatically (not playing for Hours & than forget to save)

- Fight-System isnt interesting/ good

- some Points in the Game are really tricky & hard

- no Screenshots on Steam

I played this once on Uplay (Djinn Town Beginning & never finished it. Now 4 th POP finished.

Got reminded again why I don't buy Ubisoft games on PC. Start a launcher with a different launcher to find out you have to download another launcher, make an account, log in and be always online to play an 11 year old single player game.

This review comes mostly from the removal of certain online features but most importantly from the lack of access to the purchased DLCs after the Sept 1st, 2022:

For a company of this size it's unthinkable to go forward with this decision without at least providing a way for loyal customers that purchased the DLCs to be able to access them after the online services are shutdown, even if the solution could be based on finding a way to add the DLC to the base game files and then simply give everyone free access to all the DLCs after the shutdown date.

The amount of money you will save for not guaranteeing the support on the DLCs will be instead lost on possible future sales on the base game that won't go forward plus the DLCs could even be implemented in separate to be sold and most importantly the loss of goodwill from your players since this can happen again in the future.
Plus you can even add the point that this will also be a loss of game content for historical and archiving purposes.

After replaying the POP: Sands of Time Trilogy, I decided to play this for the first time and didn't expect it to be so damn great with those mixed reviews here. WTF, it's the...
..BEST Prince of Persia I have ever played!
..YEP! it works completely fine, no rumour plz!

So, if you follow the story timeline (not release date), POP games should be played in this order:
1. POP: Sands of Time
2. POP: FORGOTTEN SANDS
3. POP: Warrior Within
4. POP: The Two Thrones
But I highly recommend you to play this one in the end if you like desserts after the end of your dinner 😁 (story not linked with SOT Trilogy)

I felt this game runs on the same version of the engine that powers modern Assassin's Creed Unity. Those 144 FPS fluid parkour combat combined with amazing visuals makes it really good! They simplified the combat so much that it's now basically Hack and Slash game. They introduced 4 godly powers and added an upgrade skill tree and TBH, these are very welcome changes from my side even if we lose that level of challenge like in the Sands of Time trilogy.

If the game shows error 53 during launch, just quit Ubisoft Connect and delete the registry file of Forgotten Sands to fix it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Ubisoft disabled online services so now Ezio character is not unlockable. Plus can't take Screenshots! Seriously I wish to Thumbs down this game for this but it would be very unfair for such a great game. At least cloud save still works.

So much superpower, you will wonder if he is the God of Persia.

Do not buy this game. it uses an online service to play that is no longer active. It is completely unplayable and will be a waste of your money. It was only 1.99, but still. I shouldn't have to deal with this.

Genre: Action/Adventure

The Good:
+ Still looks great despite its age
+ The ability to freeze/unfreeze water while platforming adds a new twist to platforming. It feels very satisfying to complete a difficult platforming section especially in the later half of the game
+ A good mix of platforming and puzzle solving.

The Average:
+/- Killing enemies rewards you with experience to upgrade skills. Other than upgrading health and energy, many of the skills felt pointless given how poor combat is.
+/- Around 5 hours to complete
+/- The story is decent at best.
+/- Requires Uplay

The Bad:
- Out of all the PoP games, this has the worst combat. The game throws huge amounts of enemies at you and almost all of them can be beaten by just hacking away at them with the occasional kicking to knock back shielded enemies. They all die very easily. There is no strategy, tactics or thought behind any of it.

- A very lackluster PC port. The graphics options are almost non-existent. To change the resolution/vsync you must go into the game’s folder and open ‘game settings’. I had to go to a message board to find out this information.

Conclusion:
Every aspect of this game feels like a huge step backwards compared to what we have previously seen before in the series. The game is average in almost all aspects of its design. Worth at least one playthrough if you can get the game at a heavy discount.

Currently, acquiring games published by Ubisoft may not be the best decision, despite the quality they may offer. This is due to the company's policies regarding access to the games and the licenses we purchase. A recent example is the case of The Crew, whose servers were shut down, depriving players not only of the multiplayer mode but also of the single-player story mode, and is now also is inaccessible on Ubisoft Connect. This situation is not new; in the past, we saw similar attempts with games like Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 3, where server closures affected access to DLCs. A more serious case was that of Might & Magic Duel of Champions, a free-to-play game with microtransactions, whose closure not only removed the game from stores but also erased achievements and statistics from accounts, rendering important player information inaccessible.

With this panorama, we cannot guarantee that Ubisoft games, especially those linked to their Ubisoft Connect application, will remain in our accounts or that we can play them when we want. Until there is a change in these policies, it is not recommended to acquire these titles. Personally, games linked to this company will no longer be part of my wishlist, even if I am interested in playing them.

We want new prince of persia

The Forgotten Sands takes place between 'Sands of Time' and 'Warrior Within' where its story concludes in 'The Two Thrones'. Perhaps unintentionally ironic, the Forgotten Sands seems to have been actually forgotten by many (perhaps by Ubisoft themselves to boot) and returns to the old, linear format and story-line established by the Sands of Time trilogy.

Premise:
The Prince sets out to see his brother, Malik, where upon meeting him we discover the palace is under attack and Malik's assessment is that it is a losing battle. He decides as a last resort that an ancient treasure known as “Solomon's Army” must be activated. He breaks the seal and the army is unleashed — thus, our adventure begins.

Combat is relatively straightforward, there are contextual animations for attacking enemies near walls and objects. You can still jump off of enemies and slash them as you fall, you're able to kick and perform 'crowd control' style moves but you can also do power attacks and upgrade your move set with special abilities — things like stone armor or firing an ice blast. You no longer need to suck enemies up into your sand dagger.

It does that God of War “thing” — colored orbs fly out of enemies that signify health, magic (time and ability gauge) and XP. These orbs can also be found in hidden sarcophagi as well as barrels and vases around the levels.

Unlike the Sands of Time, the Prince gets his power directly from the Djinn as opposed to the sand itself. You'll also be given the power to stop water from moving. This is used in the environmental puzzles and as those puzzles become more intricate and sometimes reactionary, you'll sometimes need to toggle the water's solidity to prevail. Such as jumping through a waterfall and then using the other side of a waterfall, after making it solid, to wall run to a new location. Later on, you'll even use enemies to as a teleportation target as well as bring pieces of the environment back through memories. — the Djinn lives in another realm, it's very analogous to the Outsider and his void from the Dishonored series.

The overall flow has been increased for environmental puzzles. Faster pole vaulting is introduced. Rather than needing to slowly straddle the pillar to jump off of, you can jump in any direction from any position.

This isn't a great port, it's serviceable at best.

Graphical options range from zero to none — essentially only having key bindings, brightness and volume options. That said, my Xbox 1 gamepad worked without touching any of the key bindings. Whereas the other games outside of the reboot all needed custom re-binding.

There's significant lighting artifacts (or some type of fog effect perhaps) early on in the game in one specific area. It's unfortunate they occur at all and to be quite frank, I don't know why they occur. I've tested this game on my 1060 and my 2060 and they happen on both — in the exact same spot. I don't have anything else to test it on and I don't believe it's a driver issue being such an old game. However, they only appear in the initial opening area. I'm certain that alone has caused many to push the game away entirely.

But the game does run very well otherwise — it's even alt-tab friendly.

Prince of Persia was originally an MS-DOS game from 1989 known for being extremely unforgiving while using precise platforming, light combat and puzzle solving to succeed. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was a sort of re-imaging of that framework. It had sequels in Warrior Within and The Two Thrones. After this “trilogy”, a rebooted iteration of the series was made in 2008 simply called ”Prince of Persia”. This took the trilogy's formula and made it into a kind of open-world-esque exploration style as well as changed the combat to be 1v1. It was met with mixed opinions. There is a spiritual successor to the original MS-DOS Prince of Persia in Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China — that also is a trilogy.

The Prince is of course voiced by Yuri Lowenthal as he is throughout the series. He's in a number of other things, but to me, he's the Prince of Persia — he's got one of those very distinct voices. One of those kind of voices that you point out in other games and say: “That's the Prince of Persia!”. Malik, the Prince's brother is voiced by John Cygan — which isn't likely a name you know. But is very likely a voice you've heard. Some prominent examples of his work: Canderous Ordo from Knights of the Old Republic and Solidus Snake from Metal Gear Solid 2.

The Forgotten Sands is a good entry into the series. That said, it honestly doesn't add much to the overarching narrative but it is distinct in its environmental puzzle mechanics. It only takes about 10 hours for one playthrough. I think the game still looks great, especially for its age.

I can recommend it to people that really like Prince of Persia but if you're on the fence about the series, this one won't change your mind.

There is an NG+ mode but it isn't labeled as such. You have to start a new game and it'll ask if you want to keep your upgrades or not. There's also a combat challenge and time trial mode accessed through the main menu.
