Building Challenge: Places you'd expect to find a Treasure Chest
Hi all!

We think it's time for a new building challenge! This time, we want you to come up with ‘Somewhere you would expect to see a Treasure chest’. It can be one of the larger Discovery Chests or even one of the smaller Studs Chests. It could even house a combination of both, such as a cloud with a secret chamber, a giant LEGO ® built chest full of Chests, or maybe even a Statue with a hidden compartment!

For anyone not familiar with our Building Challenges, here’s some basic rules:

The builds themselves need to be no larger than 96 Studs Wide x 96 Studs Long x 256 Tiles High. This is the largest size the Export tool allows in DX11. Please note that the DX9 has a maximum size of 48x48x128. As we’ve said before though, size isn’t everything, and in fact, sneakier could be better this time around!

Any creations that we really like the look of could even be entered into the base game!

To share your creation with the community we suggest the following:

Head on down to creative corner, and begin a thread with the title ‘Treasure Chest Challenge – MODEL NAME HERE’. Provide us with a collection of screenshots of your model in-game and we’ll take a look.

Creative Corner can be found here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/332310/discussions/5/

Criteria

• The challenge will run from Friday 23rd October until Sunday 22nd November.
• Builds must be unique creations not related to any franchises or IP’s.
• The builds must be no larger than 96x96x256 studs
• Community members with builds that meet the criteria and are selected to be in a future update will be contacted by one of the Dev team from the “meet the team” post to arrange model transferring. Please do not share any personal information with anyone. The Dev team will not ask you for any personal information.
• Models may be slightly edited upon review by TT Games if chosen for inclusion in the game.

The chests themselves cannot be placed, but you can leave something as a placeholder to suggest where it should sit, just make sure you let us know what that is!

If any of our builders are streaming, be sure to set up a post before you finish to let us know where we can watch it! It’s often very helpful to some of our newer players to have something to guide them in their own builds.

Good luck and get building!

Am I correct in assuming that we are now allowed to use Props in our exported builds? The plants would be an excellent addition to create a natural weathered overgrown look for ancient structures.

This is going to be hard.

Really looking forward to see al the amazing results, and hopefully I can think of something myself.

btw, I checked my max. export size(I'm using DX9) and noticed that it's 49x49 and not 48x48.

Yep. Props count.

Is it not possible to find existing chests and move them onto your entry when it is done?

Can our build be something that would be found underground?

Not sure that would be possible, best to just stay above ground.

Edit: You could make a hill, or a large rock and have something hidden in there. Or maybe something small you can fit into caves.

Can do. We've seen a few at the LAN party we attended in Denmark that were very clever ideas (check any in Creative Corner labeled as NPF).

What if I'd expect to find one... I dunno... towards the ends of some of these generated caves? I actually think that would be a better place to put the big/item chests, and have the stud/treasure ones more in the locations where they're currently located.

But really, these could just be "vaults" that are set up to neighbor more... "dungeony, towery, fortressy" rooms and hallways that connect them? *shrugs*

maybe add in a cloud fortress and have 1 big chest and 2 smaller ones like how most are in buildings now

Thanks for all the entries we had for this over in the Creative Corner :)

We'll be starting the review process shortly

Of well I guess that spacestation I spent a lot of time working on is all for nothing. I don't know why I even try to entire these contests... I feel so stupid right now :(
