Have yall tried putting it in Chrome/Safari manually? It should work, I just tried it again to make sure. I couldn't put in the hyperlink while I was writing the discussion.
And good!! I just opened it today and it worked the first time, so sometimes we'll get lucky :)
1. In finder, use the shortcut: Shift Command G and paste: /private/etc
2. Inside the etc folder there are two files called hosts, and hosts.equiv, drag these files to the desktop and delete them from the folder
3. Restart steam and try launching the game. For me it came up with an updating Uplay thing and it may take a couple of tries of restarting steam and relaunching the game.
4. After the updating thing goes away you should get an error saying "A service is unavalable" or something like that, and hopefully once you click "ok", it should take you to a login screen.
Enter you details and you should be able to play the game.
5. If this all worked, you can delete the files that you dragged onto the desktop and enjoy playing AC2 to your hearts content!

Go get it and do this and that.
Here is my problem doesn't matter if it is firefox, safari, chrome or anything I cannot get that link to open up period. Not running any firewalls have turned on and off VPN to see if that gets it. I have googled that file name and it always points me to that spot that failed to open page.
if someone can droptbox share it or someway to share it. Hell if I get my webpage up and running I will share the darn thing so those of us that keep going thru hours of trying to find this thing don't have to waste hours doing that since UBi doesnt seem to give a care about it.
From the Ubisoft Support Team <--Thanks for the help -- Wherz
Please follow the steps below to clear your hosts file.
1. Click anywhere on your desktop. Then from the menu bar, click "Go" and select "Go to Folder…".
2. In the box that appears, type /private/etc/hosts and select Go.
3. Drag the selected hosts file to the Desktop to make a copy. You may want to make a backup of this file before making any changes.
4. Open the hosts file on your Desktop in TextEdit.
5. Delete every line containing "ubi", "ubisoft" or "uplay". Save the hosts file, and close TextEdit.
6. Drag and drop the modified hosts file from your Desktop back to its original location at /private/etc. When you drop the hosts file back into its original location, OS X will ask you what to do about the unmodified hosts file that’s already there. Choose “Replace” and then enter your administrative user password to authenticate the transfer.
In most cases, this new mapping should work immediately. However, if the connectivity issue persists, you may need to flush your DNS cache.
1. Click the blue Finder icon at the far left of the dock at the bottom of the screen.
2. Select Applications on the left of the Finder window.
3. In the Applications folder, navigate to the Utilities folder.
4. Open Terminal within the Utilities folder.
5. The commands needed to flush the DNS cache are unique to different versions of OS X. Enter the appropriate commands exactly as written below (copy/paste recommended) into the Terminal window.
OS X 10.10.3 sudo discoveryutil udnsflushcaches <--I added this because it was my version on Yosemite
OS X 10.9: dscacheutil -flushcache;sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
OS X 10.8 and 10.7: sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
NOTE: You will need to enter the admin password for either of the two commands above to complete. You will not see the password as you type it into the Terminal window. Make sure that you type it correctly, and press Return / Enter to run the command.
OS X 10.6 and 10.5: dscacheutil -flushcache
OS X 10.4 and 10.3: lookupd -flushcache
Once done, try again to see if the issue persists. Please let me know if you have any further issues.
Now I could got o this site and get the download:
http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/launcher_installer/UbisoftGameLauncher.mpkg.zip
But I have a new issue that is coming up with a pop up saying
"Please start the game you want to play instead"
Keeping my ticket open with them in hopes that they have the fix for this one. I believe it could be because I have both AC1 and AC2 installed. But things are looking brighter.
Oh and at the posting of this I have completed AC1. With the fix of:
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.app -> show package contents -> contents -> MacOS -> double click acbmp_sf
To get the game going. Now I am just hoping they get the fix going for this new error since that doesnt work for AC2.
This game is awesome and it is and was worth the hours put in trying to get it to work. Hope this helps someone bypass a lot of that time.
