FPS issues

I played this for 14 hours a few months ago at 60fps in 4K with no issues, today I launched and no matter what I do the FPS varies from 40-55 and the game is lagging like crazy. Changing graphics options or even dropping the resolution to 1080p doesn't improve the framerate at all which makes no sense. I already searched online a bit, but the only thing I found was assigning cpu affinity which does not fix the issue and must be manually set every time the game launches. I also tried Windows 7 compatibility mode which doesn't help either. Anyone have ideas? I want to finish this to move on though the series.

Hello Mr.X I am sorry to hear you have been experiencing FPS drops in the game as of late.

To try and help you remedy this, I have a few suggestions you can try and check to see if this can resolve your issue or narrow possible causes down >

- Experiment with switching Vsync on and off in the game's settings

- Try running the game in the Fullscreen, Windowed and Borderless modes to see if there is a noticeable improvement if you have the option in the menu

- Try launching the game in offline mode if possible. Navigate to the Ubisoft Connect launchers settings and select Go Offline, to see if your connection to the servers is causing any lag

- Make sure your Windows OS is fully updated, with no pending updates.
Updating Windows will also update any supporting software the game and launcher need

- Verify your games files, in your game launcher settings, to correct any missing or corrupt installation files

- Check to see if you are running conflicting software in the background and disable this software whilst playing the game preferably -

- Check to see if you are using the dedicated GPU for the game and not the integrated GPU (especially if using a laptop) if you open Task Manager on the first screen some players will have GPU0 and GPU1 listed. In the process tab, you should be able to see what applications are using what GPU by default.

-Delete any temporary files where your Windows OS and system files are installed (usually C drive). Use the 'Windows Disk Clean' up tool and select the 'DirectX Shader cache' option and any other files that you no longer need, then select 'Clean up system files', to free up some memory on your OS
