It made me immediately think in Astroneer.
About fishing, maybe I got it wrong, but I disagree: Fishing needs to be a minigame, do not just stand staring at the screen without interacting with anything.
I've been fishing a lot, and the thing that makes fishing an enjoyable experience is the conversations, beers and food, but inside the game it becomes just "enjoy the growing grass".
The fishing in Torchlight is a good hobby to rest your finger.
It is very similar to Rising World.
It has details like lighting any bonfire or fire ...
That detail is missing Rising World.
I guess that's an improvement. Why bother? Because you would have "I'm starving" every two actual minutes (No joke) that 4 cooked fish pushed that far off. Minecraft has variety so it wins there, yet it was a chore watching the waves. it improved from the original where the bob floated, yet here it's easy & comical.
I also noted PSO2's & Animal Crossing New Leaf + Pocket Camp having worthwhile fishing. On one you wait for a circle to change colour, on the other you either press 'A', or tap on the screen during one of those three nibbles.
I however agree you should click LMB once, not hold it. You do get fair amount of generic big fish.

@Walter:
It made me think of Astroneer as well. Similar styled graphics with similar severe weather. It really makes you fear the environment.
No, I hate that. I hate the way Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and others treat it. The eyes strain so much that it becomes such a frustrating experience that I'd rather either A) Not fish, or B) use a fishing net. If it ever becomes a mini game then I'm out. I'd rather use a fishing net. Not trying to aim this to be on my side of the fence, yet fishing needs to be that break between combat & exploring stress. Just sit there, enjoying the scenery.... The sunrise and sunset....Not straining your eyes on a stupid little bop seeing when it moves up and down.
-------------
@Elenity: Creating fabrics is the fun part reminding me of Rising World. That part however goes to Rising World being more fun and detailed.
That's something I wish we could do as well by lighting bonfires. I tried suggesting it on the Rising World forums yet feel it was a silent suggestion that it won't happen. Who knows, yet it's a fun feature of feeding the fire to then see it light.
There's so many little details that it goes so fine that it becomes hard to make note of it. Stuff like having a sleeping role to pack/unpack, place on the ground, and to carry. The way you build with bamboo is similar to planks and beams, to making tools, and etc.
---------
There's however one big thing I forgot to note both here & Ylands forum is how you unlock recipes.... You have to gain material for that specific item first before it unlocks that it's blind luck in what recipie you want. The wooden shovel wouldn't unlock for me so I had to skip to iron shovel to flatten the ground. That's another good feature there. THat shovel is far more powerful than the rake in RW.
Yeah, we really do need variety. I see it missing in Ylands that your other form of fish food is your occassionally trolling shark. Tried setting up a floating pier/ship docking platform to see a shark roaming about.
I hope we get spears as well. Even lances for a mixture of weapon variety and for NPC combat use on my side of NPC customization Fishing rods & fishing nets should be a must.

- Boats II:
In hype of Rising World's boats I'm curious about the size of the boat we'll have. How we'll be able to customize them, & etc. It's thanks to Red51 & Ylands that I went back to boats again, away from trains.
- Freshly built boat with the upper deck being built up over a few hours. Manually built cabin, mast, and the front bow & stern portions. The boat's main deck is flat when you get it.

- Sailing into the high seas:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1229217658
- Sailed for too long that I U-turned to head back to base to make a map. Lovely sunset.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1229217759
- I was trying to make a boat docking floating pier when this hungry shark came in to snack
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1229217997
I have an issue with sharks being hostile in this game because in reality they only attack you if they're a certain species, and most specifically insanely hungry. They must be brutally hungry to attack humans. That, and if they mistake us for their prey of being seals where surfers are mistaken for seals. Yeah..... I hope sharks in Rising World are more.......passive. They would only attack when you're on a surf-board, or something....The longer you linger the higher the chances would go, or however that would go.... There needs to be a low 1-5% chance of sharks actually attacking you that Rising World needs to reflect this.

My lovely pier/floating ship dock heh. I love how there's a functioning anchor system to the boat, plus how I'm free to customize the boat to my liking. I had to add the upper bow, upper stern, the cabin so I could place a bed so I wouldn't be woken up mid journey at night from bad weather, as well as two variations of the mast, the wheel house, and custom flags. I even added storage chests.
The customization options here is something I'm hoping we'll be able to do in Rising World with the boats we gain in there. Things like changing colours, maybe placing items in/on them to be as complex as PNB system, and even crafting stations. I recall red51 mentioning being able to place crafting stations on them that it would be a wise idea. A mobile base of operations. We'll even have storage containers on boats in Rising World, something you can do in Ylands, yet Minecraft having to learn this stupid lesson..
I'm so hyped! Ylands is awesome, and it's fun seeing how it compares to Rising World (because it does, feature wise) that I love fiddling with things.
-----------
I also made a mining helmet in Ylands that I wish we had this update. It however auto-flicks when you go into darkness making me wonder how the lights shall work in Rising World. Being unable to play Rising World smoothly I decided to live the survival life in Ylands.
(sleepy typo edits)

Well, with the 4 hour sleep deprivation (work stress) I have I'm actually surprised I managed to sail the high seas without falling asleep. I nearly have by dozing in my chair yet the sound kept me awake. A certain sound kept me awake that it allowed me to swing the boat slightly to the northwest; back to the north to find myself a slightly cooler island where it snows. Oh, how awesome this feeling shall be in Rising World that it'll change the whole dynamic of it.
It's thanks to Ylands that I'm discovering how Rising World shall play once we get boats that we won't have to have roads. We can just continuously press 'M" on the map to chart where we're going by cycling it on & off. That is, until Red51 gives us a map to display on the boat for us to follow as we guide the boat, or something. If anything, we should be able to make travel lines on a map so we can follow it when spamming 'M', or openly displayed on the boat somewhere.
- My proud bamboo cabin containing my storage, work stations + upper private room. Even a cotton farm + my experimental sailing boat that keeps drifting away on me during storms:

I love how you can anchor bigger boats into place, yet frustrated you can't do the same with the smaller sail boats. Red51, please find a way to anchor boats into place in the same way you can in Wurm Unlimited and with the two big boats in Ylands.
- Ylands map uncharts the map similar to Minecraft & Rising World. You 100% need a map or else you're genuinely going to get lost that before you sail MAKE YOURSELF A MAP, or risk being lost at sea forever. Do note the error in map charting in Ylands in the middle of the exposed line.

This is the part I started to fall asleep from sleep deprivation by how calm the game becomes the longer you sail. It's a good 5-10 minutes before you see any land at all that the mood really settles in of how vast the world is + how weighted the vehicles are.
- LAND HO!~ I spy land, and it's a glorious sight indeed! Render distance is crap, yet the feeling of discovering an island and seeing it is glorious!
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1230899023
- Well, it looks a bit dead because it's a frozen island. You take a dip in that area and you'll most likely freeze to death.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1230899805
- The way I'm now colonizing in Ylands shall now be the way I'll colonize in Rising World (when we gain actual oceans) by making a boat landing area, chest area, and a flat tower-like area. Building is actually better in Rising World, yet it's simplified complicated in Ylands. Takes some getting used to.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1230900224
- I'm expecting Rising World to add more structures once map generation is tackled by adding abandoned forts like these with canons that we've seen rendered. I also genuinely feared they would shoot at me by some bandits. Thankfully it's only a sight seeing thing.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1230900450
- Journey back to my main base ended up becoming highly stormy that I nearly crashed into the shoreline. Thankfully I could see enough of the shoreline (♥♥♥♥♥♥ render distance) to slow down. I needed iron chisel to make myself stone bricks.........
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1230900721
Ended up going back to my newly colonized island that I loved the whole sailing experience that it now makes me hyped and curious for what Rising World has to offer in that same playing field. Rising World side I could make a very primitive log cabin, a stone block building, or something along those lines. Lots of crates & barrels. Building a floating pier is still out of my league in Rising World that I need to experiment.
The take-away from this post is the whole weighted ship sailing with how long it takes, how you can customize the vessel, how you survive from land on your mobile base of operations, and even how boats need to anchor. Boats shall be something once we gain the actual world generation that I hope it's more real world formed. There was this awesome bit where the snow actually started piling up on my ship that it gave it a nice frozen appearance of having traveled through a snowy world. Nice touch!
It's a fun game that I love for its weighted boat sailing vibe. How you transport goods that I'm holding high expectations for it in Rising World. Chests in Ylands are horrible that i enjoy the larger inventory size in Rising World.
There's this game called 'Monster Hunter World' that's on PS4 & PC where you can slay monsters and survive. I saw this gif of where a guy is cooking meat on a spite where a monster then comes into snatch it from him, eating it. That level of salt is hilarious.
https://twitter.com/kio_TFFCC/status/940630336031014912
I hope this finds its way into Rising World where mobs don't attack you, yet try to find clever sneaky ways to steal this from you. Racoons, wolves, foxes, bandits, raiders, and etc could just try to steal cooking meat from you that you'd have to be cautious as to where you're cooking this. Even posting NPC buddies to help keep them at bay.
I find this hilarious that I hope it finds its way into the game with the racoons stealing stuff from unguarded chests left outside. Even bandits & raiders being able to lockpick doors.
"Bohemia Interactive". I'm not a fan and I'm still undecided. The game looks very relaxing, but I really do not like the studio.
Tower Unite updated indeed, yeah. I'll go take a peak at the log later.
I somehow forgotten about how furnaces, campfires, and such burns you. When you stand in them, or in front of thme you're told you're extremely hot that it makes for a nice feature. In colder island biomes you'll find that the water is freezing that your guy shall be freezing cold.
Then there's that bit with Avanar making me aware of how difficult it is to craft in Ylands that you actually need a wiki to get through it all. Similar to Minecraft on PC that you need the wiki for both games. It seems like you can't play the game without the wiki, or if you do play without the wiki you'd be sinking in a whole lot of time until you've figured it out. Avanar just asked me how do you make a 'blacksmith forge' because you need to have the item discovered before crafting with it. Want a sword? Need to find sticks and stones first, or whatever the recipe is.
https://ylands.gamepedia.com/Blacksmith_Forge
He told me he's missing the Bellows that he needs to find whatever crafting material he's missing.
https://ylands.gamepedia.com/Bellows
Ylands beats Rising World in temperature & boats customization. Even horses, fishing, bamboo, weather....... The rest? It's Rising World's victory. It's easier to build in Rising World that I prefer cotton in Rising World, and etc. People say crafting in Rising World is complicated, and that may be only when you're new. It feels like Minecraft's Feed The Beast with a technology modpack, yet it's straight forward.
