STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

Windows 7 contols are not working and no one knows how to fix it.
So i bought this game, super pumped to play and i cant get passed the character creation page, reason being the only thing i can do is scroll up and down, sometimes use enter, sometimes escape, mouse will work but i cant click on anything,

Basically its useless and i cant get a refund cause i was super pumped about this game and spent over 2 hours trying to get it to work constantly restarting it and everything, ive uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing either.

any thoughts would be great

also i tried on my laptop as well and couldnt get it to open at all so I believe my computer got me further and id like to play on it since its more than capable of handling a game from early 2000s

I can't use my mouse in the main menu:

1. Run the "swconfig.exe" file (found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\swkotor\).
2. Disable the option "Enable Hardware Mouse".

Copy pasted from this guide:

Good luck! :DD

Don't give up! It may seem impossible to make this game to work, but it is definitely worth the trouble!
And I still have a few tricks up my sleeve... :P

Go to your Steam/steamapps/common/swkotor and locate your swkotor.exe file.
- right click on your swkotor.exe and select Properties
- from the pop-up window, select Compatibility
- set it to run in Compatibility mode with Windows XP Service Pack 3
- tick the box which says "Run as Administrator"

We're not done yet... :DD

Now, in the swkotor folder you should see another swkotor file which is a configuration settings file. (swkotor.ini)
Open the file using Notepad and make these changes:
- Frame Buffer=0
- Disable Vertex Buffer Objects=1
- Soft Shadows=0

After that you should be able to run the game! When you get to the Main Menu, make sure to go to the Options and turn Grass OFF and V Sync ON to prevent other bugs from occuring.

Keeping my fingers crossed! :DD

BEFORE doing what I posted in the previous comment:

Go to your Steam Library. Select Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic, right click and go to Properties. Select Local files and then Verify integrity of game files.

Damn, this is the first time I see an error like this... I don't really know how to help you except advising you to look through the Steam Kotor guides...
I'll try Googling and see what I find...

Good luck! :D

If you're getting weird errors that don't tend to show up on a google search on any game, then the MaxorMeow's suggestion is worth doing. Not just on kotor.

Enjoy the game :)
