Vatsim - Does it work now?

Hi guys,

As you know Pete has released FSUIPC for FSX SE now which is awesome!

Does this mean Vatsim can now be used? If so - what programs will work? I have had some issues installing Squawk Box, Fsinn and Vpilot due to issues finding FSX SE on the registry (I have 2 installed together). Futhermore, some also had some simconnect errors saying they could not detect the version. Does anyone have any ideas?

Yup - I have with V Pilot. There are quite a few threads now documenting it so check it out

i just downloaded and installed V pilot and it worked. Give it a try - if you need mroe help then just ask

You can isntall simconnect. Check the FSX game folder.

You want to create an Fsx community for semi experianced Simmers, who understand how to use atc? This way we could enjoy fsx multiplayer until vatsim works.

IVAO works, so I would guess VATSIM works as well. Make sure to update your FSUIPC version to 4.938a.

I found this answer from the TrackIR fix thread. It basically installs the correct version of simconnect on FSX Steam. Simply run the msi file below to install simconnect then run vPilot and it will work!

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\LegacyInterfaces\FSX-XPACK\SimConnect.msi

yeah second that - some programs (if Im right) are more picky about simconnect than others. V pilot is not one of those luckily. Has anyone had any success with Fsinn or squawk box?

v-pilot does work for me using the method above. I had the same issue on my pc and wondered why I was getting the same error. It utilizes simconnect as does trackir. The post I found about the fix is here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=358178970 . In that post, it mentions a "hard" way to do it (renaming files) as an alternate solution for TrackIR, but it didn't work for v-Pilot. So I reverted my file renaming change and did simconnect install instead. After doing that both products (v-Pilot and TrackIR) worked perfectly. It appears the first option is best as it will work for other programs trying to connect using simconnect.dll.
