Axii sign alternate is bugged beyond reason
The alternate puppet mode can only be triggered correctly if you have Delusion unequipped, which is absolutely dumb, there's some sort of weird priority error that picks one of the two modes randomly. And also, I'm dealing with a lot of situations where the effect doesnt even work at all when used on targets like bandits. They not only dont attack themselves, but infact, they immediatly start running to attack you, every single time.

I dont think this is working as intended, at all.

Hold. Q. Does anyone ever read?
Alt0153 May 21, 2015 @ 6:34am
i was elected to lead, not to read.

You're such a genius. Let me break it down for you, if you have Delusion equipped, IT DOESNT WORK. I'm not sure this happens to everybody, but I've seen a lot of people having the same problem. You can hold the button all you want, but the game gets a bug were it doesnt trigger the alternate effect.
So that, you'd understand what I said if you actually read what I wrote. Follow your own advice

You are also aware that Axii can fail? Right. I don't think this is a bug. It's on your end that would have never gotten past testing.

Yes I am aware it can fail, but that's not the problem here. And it IS a bug, since when you unequip Delusion, it works perfectly every time. The problem is not that the sign works or doesnt work, the problem is that the alternate effect is not being trigger with holding the button, it defaults to the Delusion effect. I've been testing it for hours, and it's a bug.

Glad I wasn't planning to actually turn anyone into a puppet. Though I do like Axii.

Same problem here. I could get it to work by unequiping delusion but now when I turn them into puppets they just keep attacking me anyways. This is really messed up I hope they patch it soon.

It's strange that there is so little information on this issue. It looks like it only happens to a select few people.

Indeed, and it's quite an annoying error

I GOT IT, THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED!

Navigate to your folder: C:\Users\<User Name>\Documents\The Witcher 3

Open the file "input.settings"

Find all the entries for "IK_Q=(Action=CastSignHold,State=Duration,IdleTime =0.2)"

Change the entry to have an IdleTime of 0.01. So after your change it should look like this:

"IK_Q=(Action=CastSignHold,State=Duration,IdleTime =0.01)"

There are multiple entries of this setting, and they are not grouped together, so you will have to find and change them all.

If you changed the keybind to the cast sign, it will not be under IK_Q, but inder IK_(your current key)

doesnt work still chooses itsel (5/3) ratio

Has anyone else had this error? I am in total agreement with the OP in that if you have both versions of the sign equipped it doesnt matter if you hold Q it still mainly does delusion instead of puppet. Its completely random - but if i have delusion un-equipped puppet works every damn time. So annoying.

Make sure you're changing all the lines with that code in the file, and make sure it's the right number. It worked for me 100%, and confirmed it with several other people

thanks it worked for me, and yah just search the text in the text document to change all of em (no space whatsoever), keyword: Action=CastSignHold,State=Duration

After thorough testing I can confirm that you cannot use both Delusion and Puppet at the same time.
