Watch out for russian gifts
Some of you have probably noticed that you can easily get this game for 8-9 keys (ROW version..) The real price is around 12 euro and you can get this game so cheap only from RUSSIA which means this game also will be RU gift.

Anyone who thinks this game won't be blocked because he already activated it is just naive... Price for EU version - 43 euro - price for RU version - 12 euro... There is great chance this game will get regional block and even if you have already activated it, that's probably means you will be forced to play only in russia language or be able to play only on russian territory.

Saying that regional locks won't affect game in library is stupid because you can't know for sure - Steam decides on it's own and there is no rule saying that something happen or not. I would recommend you to be prepared for this..

How you can check your game version? Is it even possible? - Of course it is and it's quite simple, just follow the next few steps:

Type on steam chat:
steam://nav/console
then type there: licenses_for_app 292030
You will get something like this:
] licenses_for_app 292030
License The Witcher 3 (41074):
- State : Active( flags 0 ) - Purchased : Sat Jun 07 19:58:19 2014 in "UA", Guest Pass
- Apps : 292030, (1 in total)
- Depots : 292031, (1 in total)

And "in "UA" Guest Pass" means this gift is from Ukraine - RU from Russia etc.

UPDATE: It might doesn't work if you paste it with a spacebar - so make sure it's exactly "licenses_for_app 292030"

Buying game in this price is a really good offer for game like that, but you have to be aware there is a chance that you will not be able to play it, and you will have to contact steam
Steam Support and ask them to delete this game from library if you would like to purchase EU (USA etc.) version...

(am going to make giveaway soon)

I guess it is a reasonable risk. You gain keys for free from playing those games, so one really isn't out any real money in the first place.

Great post thanks. Thats what I wanted to hear!

its not steam who decide, game publisher decides about locks and that stuff

Why would they want to loose millions of pounds of income due to everyone getting russian versions of the game? I full expect something to happen like it did with sniper elite 3. How would you feel if you were them already adding a huge discounts for owners of the 2 previous games plus pre order discount. Then people putting there finger up and getting at like 40% the price its worth 8 months before release date.

A new sub has just been published in the steam registry: http://steamdb.info/sub/47807/history/
It is trade disabled, but not locked. As such anyone who has already activated a gift should be in the clear since the previous sub id was the same as the US one.

Did they disable the W3 trade finally? This thing needs to stop.

Thank you for update :)

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare sieze the fire?

And what shoulder, & what art.
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand? & what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

Uh...No. A key is 1.79€ (TF2) or 1.80€ (CS:GO)

Also, if it was region locked you'd get a warning telling you that, I think RU gifts that are redeemable anywhere can be played anywhere and include all standard languages + RU language

Or you gain the key in game for free. If you traded 8/10 keys for this game, and you got the keys while playing one of those games, then you really aren't out of money out of your pocket.

You can't get keys for free for playing those games, what the hell, what kind of noob are you?
The only to get those keys is from buying them from either the in-game store or the market.

I don't play those games, never will, but had plenty of people tell me that they are dropped for free in those games. But what ever, don't know why people were telling me that if it is not true.

They were rude but they were right. Keys don't drop, you can't get them for free.

To be clear, keys never drop, but they can be traded for items that do drop. So in theory, you "can" get enough keys for "free", just by playing a LOT of Team Fortress 2, for instance... this used to be more common a couple of years ago when those items were more valuable.
