sorcerer seems underpowered
Hey guys playing with a sorcerer and I am finding them very underpowered in relation to the other group members. I have my party at lvl 6 and have split points into the AOE lightning spell currently at 3 and the damage debuff spell at lvl 2 I believe.

The amount of mana needed for him to cast a few spells seems insane and rarely does more than 20 damage per a creature because their resistance is always higher than armor.

Looking at the class spells it seems to me I'd be better off using him to buff my other three melee classes but that is kind of lame to not have a sensible option to do some DPS.

Am I missing something on the class?

Bit disappointing my tanks - the outlander and paladin do all the dps

@General Jah - I would generally say that you might want to work on re-focusing him at an early level perhaps? Vincent is extremely powerful character, arguably one of the best in the 8.

Are you using both Damage Debuff and Lightning Spear a lot? How are you splitting your turn AP between the two? Since Buffs are basically always-on, you should definitely look at Thundering Blades. This will help the whole group but also help Vincent.

Which AOE lightning spell? I would not try to start with Energy Storm out of the gate, work on LIghtning Spear and then transition to ES sometime in Episode 2 for the -Lightning Resistance. While ES can do some whopping damage at higher levels and with the right supporting buffs and gear, a lot of its power is dedicated to -Lightning Res debuff and therefore needs to be used more strategically and not just spamming it as an attack.

As a powerflu character, Vincent has a lot of good options, which can cause players to pick too many active abilities and then his turn-by-turn AP is spread around or not spent on the Talents where all his level points are pooled.

Is someone in the group helping to curse -Armor? This would make Vincent far more effective.

Thanks for the reply, the early build I am trying out is 3 points in energy storm and 2 in frigid air. The reason I skipped lightning spear is the damage just didn't seem to be enough to get past the enemy resistance and also didn't scale very well.

I'm playing on brutal.

You give some good suggestions that I will try out.

I think my main 'complaint' is my melee characters are hitting for around 40 points of damage at lvl 6, have a bunch more armor than vincent, and more hps. They basically seem to have it all. While vincent with his low hp and armor has to stay in the rear with a dps attack that uses a ton of mana, energy storm. The damage deff is nice but he just seems so much weaker.

But again ill try to respec into lightning spear and see how it goes with some more points in it

@General Jah - I would suggest that as a place to start. ES requires 3 AP so you can only hit it twice. LS costs 2 AP so you can jam it 3 times and still move a slight bit. The AoE will help you get up to the DPS levels you like.

ES is a great addition a little later (1 ES + 2 LS) but you'll like Vincent better to start with LS.

If you have Fyona in your group she should be investing in some Holy Strickening.
A great party is made up not just of good individual builds but how they all come together and synergize.
Fyona"s Strickening makes enemies easier for everyone to hit and much more vulnerable to elemental attacks. Suddenly even lower levels of Vincents Thundering Blades will be giving a noticable boost to everyones attacks and Vincents other lightening attcks will be hitting much harder.

With that said I wouldn't worry too much about how much damage output any one character is doing at level 6. Instead I'd suggest thinking about what role each of your 4 heroes will be playing in the party in another 10 levels, 20 levels etc. and how you can best get them to that point.

I am playing with vincent too, but only on hard, I skipped LS too because it failed so often and hardly did dmg (and only at level 8 I noticed the little graphic that shows how the AE is supposed to work, sigh ... if only the area was indicated right on the battlefield when you want to cast an AE, dmg or buff) I used him mostly to debuff enemies (and I picked up the AP debuff way too late, omg)

Anyway since talentpoints are rather scarce, my plan is to build up ES and the thundering blades buff, as my other 3 chars are all melee.
