Personel deployment

can anyone help me how to get my workers to do jobs they just sit in the home base and do nothing and second is how do i deploy n flat top crane i am quite new to this game

1- Worker: In the menu, open the active job to see the task list. Next to each task is an icon you can click on to assign the task to a worker.
2- Crane: go to the construction site and find the crane area. It is a square fenced-in enclosure. Stand at the entrance and hit the F key.
