FIX for Infinite Loading
I had this Issue, Turns out (for me atleast) Windows Defender was stopping the game from loading past the State where it shows you who your playing. Disabling Windows Defender then launching the game worked for me.

Windows Defender causing the issue here too.

You don't have to disable it, you can just add an exclusion for folder that you installed Civ 6 to.

You can open windows defender from the task bar by clicking on it's icon.
In windows defender, there is a button with a gear icon in the top-right for 'Settings'. Click that.
In the settings panel, scroll down a little and you will find a section labeled 'Exclusions' with a button labeled 'Add an exclusion'.
After you click that, click on '+ Exclude a folder'. Select the steam folder and you're all set.

Edit: I did this in Win 10, I don't know if its different in Win 7

Thank you! Went to Windows Firewall, it already had Civ 6 checked for home/private but not for "public"... checked that box and all working including previously saved games!
Cheers

After 18 hours the loading issue suddenly started happening to me, added it to windows defender exception list solved the issue thankfully.

After many hours of no problems this happened to me as well.

Went into windows defender, excluded civ VI, no more problems!!!!

This should be STICKIED...im sure many others will run into this problem.

This appears to have solved my trouble with "No connection" messages, too. I had already made sure the firewall was set properly in terms of allowing Civ 6. Excluding the folder from Defender is what settled the connection problem (or it's incidental since one person is not a valid sample). Something for folks to try with that problem, too, though.

On a Mac, give full disk permissions to Steam and the game in System Preferences -> Security -> Privacy -> File and Folders
