Forced into FOB building?
I kind of wanted to avoid the whole online part, and have been offline mainly due to the servers never seeming to work. However, after recently starting up, it is FORCING me to build one, which I really don't want to do.

I thought we could opt out of the online part? I'd rather not have to cosntantly log in to find supplies and soldiers stolen, it's grindy enough as it without needing to constantly search for more soldiers.

Block it in your firewall.

So we really are forced into the FOB? That seriously sucks. They said before we wouldn't have to. I have no interest in it, and seems like it would be more of a hindrance than a help.

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/FOBDC - group for people to friend for FOB defense. Since not everyone wants to partake of the forced module.

Blocking the game after building it still leaves it active online. Unless you blocked it before the build mission and never go online again, you're stuck in the rut.

More baddies crying about online. Disconnect from the menu and stop clogging up the forums with your tears.

I just alt F4'd it (I had to as it stayed on the FOB screen for about 5 minutes with nothing happening). As long as I go straight into options and go into offline mode it doesn't ask about the FOB.

Seriously though we're forced into it though.

Except there is no way to go straight to the game in offline mode, so if you build a FOB, every time you log in even to play offline it will load all your stolen resources and base personnel.

And forgive me for wanting to play the already grind heavy singleplayer without another annoyance to deal with, and that's an online community focused around stealing other people's resources.

Crybabies.

Online isn't for everyone.

The fact you're 21 just makes me sad to think what you must be like in real life, if you act so childish online.

How about the load times for some of the people? There are people with not so good internet connection as yours.

#Old cliche number one: Downloading porn whilst playing

Dude, go offline. You might have to build the FOB...but that doesn't stop you from going offline.

And again, even if you go offline after building the FOB, you are forced to connect the servers on start up. Meaning when you start the game whoever attacks your FOB or whatever assets you lost get loaded up too before you can go into offline mode.

Q_q hes trolling. I tried the FOB invasion and the universe "disappeared" twice and I fell into the water. Being online causes serious lag in some menus too, I restarted my save completely to get rid of the FOB.

Then put Steam into offline mode BEFORE starting the game.

We shouldn't have to put steam into offline mode in order to not be forced into participating in their idiotic multiplayer garbage. Besides some of us like to remain online in case friends come on and we want to go play something else... So putting steam in offline mode isn't a solution, it's just even MORE of a hassle.

Forcing players to create FOB's is without a doubt the worst design decision they could have ever possibly made. What where they afraid that if they didn't force people into it the FOB system would go largely unused...
