Ship Designs won't save anymore? [FIXED]

I like to muck around in the designer alot and design different ships. I only have 5 mods installed and 4 are cosmetic (shipsedts and Alternative Interface). I have a good 18 custom ship designs in addition to the vanilla designs, most of which are in my own classes. For some reason unknown to me, though, my ship designs no longer save. Even if I export them and try to import them again, they dissapear completely. I've verified integrity of game cache and all that, and they still won't save.

I'm at a complete loss. This just started happening, I've never had any problems like it before. Is there a limit to how many different ship designs I can have? Should I try unistall/reinstall? Any help is much appreciated.

EDIT: When I edit or alter existing designs, they also do not save. :/

Start game directly as admin? From its folder.

AI shouldn't be causing any issues with saving designs. If you press the tilda key are any errors being thrown?

I've got around 90+ custom designs on my in my own classes and I don't usually have any issues. From time to time I'll save a ship and the designs screen doesn't update but if I restart the game the ship shows up fine.

Same. Very, very occassional failure to update. I have over 320 designs residing permanently in my usual stable. The total number of custom designs for DOF including subfolders is over 1500 now I believe.

I don't think AI is the problem. The game consistently fails to save any designs I make. I'm going to try out some of the suggestions, and turn off my mods just to see. Thanks for the replies, though.

EDIT: Turniong off my mods just h*cc'd up the game. Do you guys think that Weaponsmith could be causing the problems? That's the only non-cosmetic mod I have installed.

Thank you to everyone who replied to this thread, I've found the problem. Once again, my security software has prevailed in making me look like a moron by blocking my documents folder and all of my games without notifying me in any sufficient way. I am now putting a post-it on my computer that will remind me to check that first before wasting people's time trying to solve a non-existent problem. Thanks again!

Bitdefender Premium. I have ransomware protection on and it counts my documents folder as a "Protected File", so it blocks any application that attempts to make changes to it without my express permission. It doesn't give me any desktop notification, no email, no nothing. It's quick enough to give me a pop-up when I can get a Christmas special for 30% off, but not when there's an actual security concern. Which sucks because I've actually been thoroughly more satisfied with Bitdefender since switching over from McAfee.

Youd be evn more satisfied with nod32. Ages ago i moved from bitdefender, got angry when it missed couple of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
