Getting started with Live2D & useful links.
This forum section is dedicated to discussing community creations built using Live2D Cubism technology.

Here are the links to the documentation, and other resources to get you started:

1. Dowload page for the Live2D Cubism Editor.

Note: the latest English version of the document above comes with the program, if you purchase the Live2D Module. The version that comes with the program is always up-to-date, the version in this forum link may become outdated.

5. Please keep in mind that the Live2D Cubism SDK used in FaceRig is the 2.1 version

8. Source data for our Gogu the Rabbit Workshop avatar

Note specifically for workshop items : Creators, please try and use unique names for the your Live2D avatars, otherwise, if they are too generic, they can overwrite each other when they are copied to the FaceRig Data Folder :). You can set the friendly name string to pretty much whatever you like, and that will be what appears in the Avatar browser within FaceRig, but consider that the avatar actual file name from the disk should be unique to your avatar to avoid name collision for avatars downloaded from the Steam Workshop.

We hope you are as excited as we are about this collaboration, and that you will create awesome hand drawn avatars :) .

I have a question. Considering the avatar has to be set up with layers for each portion of the character, can you do this with Photoshop? They have a similar thing with a combination of Photoshop and After Effects. You create a character with Photoshop, layers for each animated part, then you import it into After Effects where it tracks your movements using the webcam.

I would much prefer to import a character I made from Photoshop into Facerig though - I prefer the software and it has better functionality.

Yes, you are right you can make your character in Photoshop and after splitting it in layers in a certain way you can animate it while within After Effects.
If you want to use FaceRig for this, you will have to import your .psd file into Live2D editor and set ranges, key frames. This enables you to easily animate the avatar with a higher degree of fidelity. You can choose which method suits you best and there are tutorials on the internet for each process.

On a side note: PSD files can also be created by other draw/paint software like Clip Studio Paint. So you have a lot of freedom on how you want to achieve this :). But Pphotoshop is definitely supported for Live2D avatar creation, see the above linked tutorials :).

Excellent!! I already own the entire Creative Cloud suite so this makes me very happy. Although the After Effects animation is .. ok. I much prefer FaceRig's tracking and functionality.
Being able to create using photoshop then import into FaceRig via Live2D makes me a very happy person. :steamhappy:
The unoffiial tutorial was horrible, he doesn't even tell how or what he did to get the snipped character in the frame. I thought it was just the points i had to place in a sircle, but nope, nothing works for me.

An English version of the editor would be nice as I can't read Japanese.

I looked in the instal folder. I can't find it. Where does it get installed to? Would be nice if that was listed in this posting...
