So it's just like it. Really is there anyone who enjoyed playing GDT?

i liked GDT, it wasnt fun till i looked up how to play. but once you know what to do, its fun to take your own path through it.

I'd actually like to know some of the differences as well. Not "what is better"!! But differences, features in one that's not the other, how it runs, fun factor, etc? I like Game Dev Tycoon and am considering picking this one up...but if it's so similar I'm not sure I see a point to owning both.

Going by the reviews, the differences are thus: GameDevTycoon works, comes with an exe, and is 100% in english. This game doesn't work, doesn't come with an exe, and has been partly in German since its release 8 years go.

i did, till i realized it was basicly random chance if something was good or not, i left nevre left the gradge and made somewhere between 60-80 million, and for fun, i released a text based flight simulator on the ps4, and than a follow up sequal less than 5 months later for the same system.

so far all "game tycoon" games are utter crap.
where is Chris Sawyer when you need him

In GDT I produced nothing but text games with no graphics in the basic engine for 9 years. And I was still making money.

GDT tycoon was fun and entertained me for a few days. But once you understand how it calculates a games score you kind of break the game, pretty much 9-10 every game you make.

If you want to see how broken this game is, just check out NerdCubed's new video.

My god, now we need to keep the word out about how horrible this game is, to prevent anyone else from throwing money into the abyss.

Hey developer, watch this video and tell me how great your game is and innovative....
He already ran for the hill, just look at his profile, he is probably busy playing the exciting and new "Warehouse Simulator" playing as an unmanned forklift to deliver cargo.

I'd love to know what people seem to have against this game.. For it's age, it's not a bad game. Ok, so there's better out there now - but for it's time, it's good. Almost Airline Tycoonish..

The problem with this, and many other tycoon games out now, is they're suffering a lack of replayability because there's little in the way of diversity in the game. As more and more games are release, there'll be more incentive to work on the long game.

For so long, tycoon games fell out of fashion and those of us who enjoyed them have had to revert to retro gaming to satisfy our craving. Now that it's slowly coming back from the indie market, hopefully we'll see some innovation and some new concepts.

As far as a comparision, there's isn't one. GDT is far superior. However, it suffers the same issue - a lack of long term replayability. Maybe Game Tycoon 2 will address this, maybe GDT will do so, ewith either a sequel or with mods. Either way, this is how innovation starts.
