Rockstar has went to far this time!! They care so little about us and our security that hackers have now found a way to not only crash your game and steal your money, but to actually connect to your PC while you are in the same lobby as them, and inject any file they wish early last night Malwarebytes alerted me to an incoming connection from my GTA V game, and hours later I received another message that a keylogger and backdoor trojan was found.



This morning when I tried logging into my R* account my password was not accepted. I quickly headed over to my email only to find it had been changed to:

and my language switched to Japanese. Script kiddies have taken the new role of hackers as what they are doing now is illegal and Rockstar is letting it happen. It has been over 7 years since I have had a virus maybe longer, and now the game we all play is LETTING hackers in. Rockstar you have went to far and now you are entering a legal zone that you don't want to be in.



All someone has to do is prove you know about these security threats and they do have grounds for a lawsuit because at that point, you sat by and warned NO ONE of the threat while our CC and any other linked info is being stolen. Get your ♥♥♥♥ together now R* or you are no better than the scammers.

good thing it isn't possible to do that on steam, 2 DRM saves the day.

also if you haven't already you need to CALL rockstar and tell them what happened.

I did call its easter they are closed. Which was probably planned out. None the less and email was sent to them, and in addition all passwords on every site I can think to login to has been changed to a seperate password with the password list printed out and not saved anywhere.

In addition the PC was taken offline and a deep level rootkit scan, malware scan, and virus scan was done. Then I went as far as removing every single Google Chrome saved password and changed my IP address just to have different numbers.

P.S it is possible on steam and has nothing to do with the platform you are using. That would be like saying Hackers can't use any of their mods because we are on steam. GTA V code is still the same and still lets hackers connect to you. It has nothing to do with steam. They are connecting to your IN GAME, and then the keylogger obviously logs whatever you type including your password into the GTA V launcher which still is a thing with the steam version.

steam has two step verification which is nice, and you can't change over the social club account so hacking a steam based game is pretty futile.

Wtf are you even talking about right now, the only thing you two step authentication protects is your steam account. It in no way protects your games. GTA V hackers are getting into your PC through GTA V when you are CONNECTED to the same lobby as them. The Keylogger doesn't stop and ask steam if it can run.

Your SC can be changed over and I have the links to prove it (check the OP). Steam is no safer than anyone else from a keylogger, the ONLY thing being protected is your steam account, and that doesn't do ♥♥♥♥ for SC or your other passwords being logged.

seeing as steam PERMANENTLY LINKS your rockstar social club account and only requires the password once there is no way they can get your account info unless you log in from browser.

Did you over read the parts where I state they use a keylogger AND backdoor trojan. Your password is saved they can harvest it. If its not saved then you enter it in every GTAVLauncher pops up. Keyloggers don't just log keypresses in browsers -.- So once more yes they can get the info. There are several posts right here on steam of it happening. So rather than defend the hackers maybe you should do your research and see its a very real threat occuring.

I said its impossible on steam. the only way they could steal your account is if they stole your steam account. I've known about this happening to people who don't use steam for ages now.

If its not saved then you enter it in every GTAVLauncher pops up. Keyloggers don't just log keypresses in browsers -.-

see this doesn't happen on the steam version you log in with your linked account not your password.

I said its impossible on steam. the only way they could steal your account is if they stole your steam account. I've known about this happening to people who don't use steam for ages now.

Hows that impossible. FFS your info is saved. Its called password harvesting. Its not impossible at all.

uh not from the steam version of the game you wont. you don't even have the option to choose not to log in. it just does it automatically even if you change your password.
