You can always expect to lose features with sequels nowadays. Thats one of them. The game was obviously rushed out.

If there was an air combat with jets, we wouldn't called it a guerilla warfare anymore.

No, there isn't air combat. Instead the strategic map gameplay is based around moving your base to a target mission region, and scanning the area. Threats appear in different regions and will force you to divert your focus or ignore the new threat.

Arguably its not all that bad, its just something different.

I don't know if you have been paying attention to the story, but the humans got so owned that the fighting resistance almost doesn't have enough weapons to go around at all, even less fighter jets.

I put gameplay before story, sorry. Air combat has been in the series since the beginning.

I love the "mods will fix it" arguments, a common battle cry of every bethesda fanboy, yet mods haven't fixed a single game of theirs.

Interceptors were lame in XCOM: Enemy Unknown. XCOM has the mobile base now and UFOs only seek to take them out. It wouldn't make sense in regards to their resources for them to have interceptors. Why would the aliens be flying UFOs around, anyways?
