There are video guides within the references section as well as tons of help within the iRacing forums and steam forums. Youtubers post guides as well, such as The Simpit and Empty Box
The way iRacing made is not really for people who want to start off with a high level car on a high level track. You will have to start from a lower level package before progressing - trust me, I tried to cheat my way through and I failed miserably
Also, gamepad steering really doesn't work well :)
Good luck and you will get the hang of it soon
I have given a hand to a few others now from steam and their reviews of iracing have been nothing short of a "marvel of a game"
Just to add he also started off on a gamepad. Quickly went and got himself a g27 mind you ;)
To be fair, if you are comparing it to forza then this probably isnt for you. However my offer to help still stands :)
Remember, most iRacers have tried Forza, GT, AC, rFactor, pCars etc. iRacing is the only game we come back to.
Every other sims are looking apon like a joke to iRacers.
btw. Major graphics upgrades and web interface coming soon.
Every input is what you would do in a real race car.
You don't need many tracks or cars at the beginning because beginners need to time to work their way through the system and gain the required skills to be able to safely race cars in the higher series. We don't just slap our air force pilots straight into the latest fighter, we work them up through sims and trainers before they get to play with the big toys.
Theres's one guy in the reviews who had the same opinion as yourself initially, but he gave it more time and found he really liked iRacing and realised it is what it is for good reason. Give it some time.
This.
I started off with games like Forza but always felt there was something lacking and that the multiplayer was a joke of people cheating or just constantly crashing! iRacing is the answer to this and is now the only racing game I want to play.
It is not for everyone- If you like Grid/Need for Speed- It's like playing Call of duty and moving to ARMA 3. They are both good, but not the same.
Good luck.
