Character restrictions status quo: Religious vs. non religious

IIRC there was (official?) talk a while back, around the release of Crimson Court, to remove the class-pairing restrictions, based on religious vs. non religious paradigm. Is this still on the developers To-Do-list?
I am aware you can simply adjust game-files to remove those restrictions. Just wondering if it will happen officially at some point.
