CODE OF CONDUCT -- Please read before posting!
We are introducing an extra set of forum rules in the form a simple code of conduct. This are in addition to and overlap with the general Steam Community Guidelines. We wanted to add to as a means to make it abundantly clear how we wish we conduct ourselves on this forum. We appreciate your adherence to these simple guidelines and look forward to discussing Darkest Dungeon with you on the boards.

1. Don’t be a jerk

First and foremost. This includes trolling, posting offensive, racist, hateful, or sexist material. We have a 100% no tolerance rule on this. You will be perma-banned.

Be respectful. Don't insult people who have a difference of opinion. Don’t engage in personal attacks over a disagreement in opinion. This is an international community and everyone has different customs and different opinions, but one thing we all have in common is our desire to enjoy Darkest Dungeon.

No toxic behavior. Toxic behavior is going beyond specific personal attacks and well beyond simply not liking the game or offering negative feedback. We welcome all feedback, but it is not only our responsibility to build a productive community where people feel comfortable discussing their opinions, but it is also your responsibility for upholding this code of conduct.

Don’t openly argue with Moderators. Moderators are using their best judgement when responding to reports. There better ways to raise concerns to the Mod team, blatantly arguing with them will result in bans.

Report any harassment or awful behavior to the mods immediately. Let’s keep this a safe place for anybody and everybody.

Let’s also try and keep our language and subject matter appropriate for everyone.

2. Keep it On Topic

Our community exists for the purpose of discussing Darkest Dungeon and directly related ideas and topics. This is fairly broad and can include game strategies, feedback and criticism, ideas, modding, role-play, stories and lore, fan creations, events, and more.

However, topics not directly related to the game may be closed down. This includes discussions about general industry topics not specifically related to Darkest Dungeon, Red Hook general administrative activities, and more. Our moderators retain the right to make judgements in these areas.

No distribution of personal information. Also considered off-topic is personal information regarding any member of the community, including Red Hook employees. Furthermore, using personal information as a means to harass, troll, or defame is expressly prohibited, regardless of how the information was obtained or presented.

3. No Spam

Don’t post links to services, products, or “deals” that are unsolicited. Spamming also includes purposeful thread derailment. Please keep the discussions relevant to the OP, if it raises new discussions please start a new thread.

If you have something related to Darkest Dungeon, RPGs, Dungeon Crawlers, or the like then that will be okay within reason. Examples of what is okay: an article you wrote or where to buy a board game someone is looking for.

You may post something like this once and only once. First offense will receive a warning. Second offense will result in a temporary ban. Third offense will result in a perma-ban.

4. No Excessive Bumping

If you have new information or something else to contribute, by all means keep discussions going. Otherwise, let topics age gracefully.

5. Don’t post copyright-infringing material

Do not upload, attach, or otherwise post any copyrighted material which you are not free to redistribute (subject to the licensing terms of the specific item). If you have a question about having permission to post or attach a specific item, please ask a mod.

Any posts or threads found in violation of this rule will be edited or deleted, and the poster warned or possibly banned; at our discretion.

6. Post in the appropriate forum

It’s a time sink to constantly clean up threads and move them around. Please find the appropriate forum to post in before doing so. It’ll save us a lot of headaches.

Avoid Duplicate Threads. Please do at least a small check to see if there is a thread on the same topic you wish to discuss. This will help keep the boards clean and also promote discussion in existing threads.

7. Don’t expect the devs to reply to all messages

It’s pretty awesome that the development crew is so hands-on with all of us, but often they are also really busy adding new features or fixing bugs. They might reply to topics, but please don’t expect it in every case.

If you have a game-specific question, please post it in one of our forums. Otherwise you can direct your questions to me.

8. Above all else, observe Rule 1 and have fun!

Everything else will fall in line.

What happens if I break a rule?

Generally you’ll be given a warning because we’re all nice here. If the offense is egregious enough then it can result in a perma-ban of your forum account.

What happens if I see a thread/post which has broken a rule?

Please report the thread/post immediately. We’ll take care of it from there.

When in doubt, ask a mod about the topic of your thread or post. They will be able to tell you if it violates the rules or not. If your thread or post is removed and you do not receive an email or PM about it, then ask a mod why it was removed.

Do not re-post your thread or start another one complaining about your thread being removed.

What if I have more questions?

Send a mod a private message and they’ll get back to you as soon as they can.

<Insert Name> is causing me problems in game / on the forums! Can I call them out?

Nope. Report the post and/or send a moderator a private message. Don't call them out in public. That never ends well. Let us handle it.
