Game crashes issue - CT needs your assistance
Guys,

I'm starting this thread for you to help me find the cause of occasional game crashes (while playing) and crashes when changing somethin in "graphic options" menu, like resolution or tripple buffering...

We're currently fighting the issue with powerfull ally by our side - nVidia. :)

So, here are couple of questions, for a start:

#1
Do you have FRAPS running? Or any other utility from NV or AMD that interfere with game
(having overlays on screen, adjusting GPU speed, things like that...)

#2
Have you overclocked your system (GPU mostly, but also CPU)?

#3
Does anyone of you with AMD/ATI graphic cards experienced crashes when changing display mode?

That's it for now, but I expect this thread to grow.

Thanx all of you for the assistance, and stay tuned

Cheers,
DEN

Hi,
I love the game but it constantly crashes to windows (now running win 10, but happened when I was running on 7).
As some guys write the sound work and the game seems to be running, but the graphics are gone - black screen.
I can alt-tab back to windows and kill the application.

For the questions:
#1: Not running FRAPS and no other nvidia utilities as I am aware of.
#2: No overclocking.
#3: N/A

Running I5, GTX660ti manufactured by MSI, 8gb ram.

Btw, I have never experienced any crashes in other games played for last 1 ½ years...

Thanks,
Göran

Hello Den! Currently I've been experiencing crashes for my entire playthrough of this amazing game!

I had Windows 7 installed before but right now I've upgraded to Windows 10, the crashes have happened in both 7 and 10.

As gjohnsson said I also suffer from his problem, when I'm in DirectX 11 the game likes to crash while I'm playing it, it'll just go black and become unresponsive. Switching the game to DX9 helps remove this problem but I imagine I should be able to run this game at least somehow well on DX11 lol!

To your initial question I have experienced those crashing problems whenever I change any settings at all.

1] FRAPS is not running at all, I haven't installed it at all yet, but NIVIDA GeForce Experience is running and while I have it turned off I do have Shadowplay installed for this card.
2] No I have no overclocking going on with my computer, never needed to.
3] Lastly I have never experienced a crash at all when dealing with a resolution changing or changing display modes. The only crashes I have are with TALOS.

Spec:
CPU: Intel i5-4670 3.40GHz
GPU: GIGABYTE 2GB 192-Bit GDDR5 Nivida GeForce GTX 660 Ti with 353.62 drivers installed.
HDD/SSD: I have my OS installed on a 240GB Sandisk SSD with 2 HDD for all of my steam games.

I really wish you guys luck in fixing this. I really want to experience The Talos Principle's the best way I can without crashing!

Installed Windows 10 on other logic disk, and Talos not launched in it - no black screen, just message "Critical error: cant set display mode". Nvidia drivers are installed.
Your questions:
1: No, 2: No, 3: No.

Reiko, sometimes one or more reboots helps with Win 10 issues. Please try...
I've got an AMD HD 7730M with the lastest drivers over here. Nothing impressive, but it lets me play GTA5.

1.No fraps or anything like it
2.Never have
3.Never installed the AMD app

If I try to apply any changes to the graphics, it crashes. I have a hundred other games on here, none do this.

Running Win7, AMD A10-6400M, 8-gig RAM, 250gb SSD

I have a Geforce GTX 680,

1. No FRAPS
2. No
3. No

The game never crashed until I swtiched to Windows 10 and then it started crashing frequently. I switched back to 7 and it still crashed but gave me the blue screen of death as well, so I switched back to 10. It still crashed often and I have rebooted my system multiple times.

I have a GTX 770 on Linux Mint 17.2. Driver version is 346.72.

First, the answer to all three questions is no.

The Road to Gehenna has been locking up my system completely when I'm reading the terminal messages. The game plays fine otherwise.

1. No
2. No
3. No

The game is crashing each and every time I step past the doors to world 3 and 4 in hub C. I haven't had the game crash anywhere else up to this point.

It looks like a graphics driver crash, the game music continues to play, I just get a black screen. Windows event log reports this error after the crash:
Display driver amdkmdap stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

Talos.log file contents here: http://pastebin.com/0c61Fdwz

Looks like that contains my system specs, but anyway:
i5-2500k @ stock clocks
R9-290 4GB, at factory settings (mild factory overclock)
Video driver version is 15.20.1062.1003-150728a1-187447C
Catalyst version is 15.7.1
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit
Game is running from my secondary HDD (primary is an SSD holding Steam and the OS).

For your questions, 1, 2, and 3 are all no, unless you count the Steam overlay or AMDs CCC (I never installed their "gaming evolved" app, just the catalyst control center)

I'm crashing whenever I try to change a graphics option.
Log at http://pastebin.com/933tu3cJ
No FRAPS/overlays/etc running
Windows 10
AMD video card

My game has started crashing on me. I can't load or start any game. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and that had no effect, I even started a new game (Which seems to overwrite any existing game. Why would the developer think you only needed one save slot?) and it still won't let me play the game. I can get all the way to selecting either "Continue" or "New Game" but as soon as the screen for the game starts to appear, the game crashes: http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k107/Saabre/game%20crash_zpswsm3gqr7.png
You probably can't actually read the error message since photobucket makes the images so small, but it says, "File signature verification failed (Content/Talos/All_244371.gro" I don't know what else to try so I'm hoping someone here can tell me what is going on.

Everything worked like charm until I got into the portal to level 2. Then all the shadows started blinking, the frame rate went down to 8-10 fps and the game is unplayable... If I go back to the main hall, everything looks good again.
So I was only able level 1....

Once I was able to change resolution and had a good gameplay on level 3 for a couple of minutes, but then it crashed and the same problem occured again. Could be the level caching setting(?)

If I try to change video preferences, as soon as I hit Apply, the game freezes and all I can do is restart the machine.

I have a MacBook Pro I5 2.4Ghz, 8Gb DDR3, Intel Iris 1536Mb.

Hopefully you'll be able to help, thank you.

My game of The Talos Principle will crash simply after some extended period of time of playing, coming up an a message box titled "Message" saying "Not enough memory (x bytes required)!" where x is tens of millions followed by another message saying "Waiting for an uninitialized event.". You can find it in the logs.
The latest log of it happening: http://pastebin.com/h3fp6TGH
All of the logs so far (Talos.All.txt): http://pastebin.com/bX1ZTYk1

As far as the questions go:

1. No. Not as far as I know, anyway...
2. No.
3. I have AMD, but no.

I have Dell Inspiron 15R 5537
Windows 8.1 64-bit,
Intel Core i7-4500U CPU,
8GB RAM,
AMD Radeon HD 8670M and Intel HD Graphics 4400

I can keep playing the game as long as I can deal with effectively rebooting it every 20-60 minutes or however long it takes to decide there's no memory left to use, but naturally would much prefer that not be a thing.

Seems to work in Safe Mode, but it's not a very pleasant experience..... :(

Ok, sorry, it looks like I should have given some more information. I'm just not very good at trouble shooting. For the questions in the opening post:

1. I don't even know what FRAPS is, so unless it's something that would be running by default the answer should be no.
2. I've never overclocked anything on my computer myself, but my video card came from the manufacturer overclocked.
3. I haven't been changing display modes, so no.

As for the specs of my computer, I'm running Win 7 and the processor says it is a AMD Phenom (there's a little symbol here I can't quite make out) X4 965 Processor 3.4 GHz. My video card is an AMD Radeon HD 6900 series.

If there is anything else that would help y'all figure out what is going wrong my game, please ask and I'll do my best. Thank you.
