While I do agree that they could have chosen a better picture I don't quite see how it glorifies violence against women.

It's disturbing that you have interpreted that image to be glorifying violence against women.
I suggest that you not look at it anymore.
Mormacil May 16, 2014 @ 8:08am
Is it sexist? Yes sexist as hell and I generally hate it but at this moment I don't for this game. Probably blinded by fandom. However if this reminds you of hurting women you need professional help my friend.

So glorifying violence against men and in generally is ok?
Galacticfish May 16, 2014 @ 8:18am
Super Alexa, as your resident PETA representative, I find it in poor taste.. No, I find it outrageously, unforgivenly offensive that your profile picture displays the image of a girl with a poor defensless infant sheep on her head. To wantonly carry a sheep on your head and risk it/her/him being hurt in a drop is heartless. There is no excuse for your behavior. Please change it.

You guys are idtiots....just saying.

As opposed to what? glorifying violence towards men? Does it really matter? They're just pixels when you get right down to it, so lets just relax and play a game...

Probably that the games would allow you to remove those bad guys from existence, so they never hurt women again. By the way, JA 1 had a female character very offensive agains't men. Dunno if there were complains about it.

To me the picture is straight up wierd. I don't get why that is what they went with. It does not make me think Jagged Alliance at all. The covers for the old games were straight up 80's why not a remake or a homage. On the original cover you have some explosions, a bad dude, a good guy and a woman not being assaulted.

I'm confused. Which image are we talking about? The title image with the bikini girl with a gun or the second screenshot where a girl is being smacked around and likely to be raped in the background?

The image with the tile across it is sexist, but does not in any way glorify voilence against women (possibly BY women but not against)
The second screenshot image is not really sexist imo, and although it depicts violence against women it does nothing to glorify it. I see nothing in it that would make the viewer identify with and condone or support what those men are doing. If anything that picture is meant to rally you against those rapist bastard and make you feel good about killing them later on.

I guess I'm missing the part where the picture is glorifying it

Thank you, totally agree with your comment... there are a good % of women who there who can actually give and take just as well if not better then males

agreed.... goes together with my comment at the top, ""its wrong to shot a female enemy combatant, but its fine to shot a male one?.... F**K off.. in combat its 1 or the other

1. shoot or be shot
and
2. in combat there is not gender or colour.... there is the enemy and there is the ally... NOTHING MORE

The problem is that BOTH Steam store pictures depict troubling gender roles. One as victim the other as sex object. Of course, many here will say that the since the game is based a great deal on satire, this shouldn't be taken seriously. I'd (be more willing to) buy that if there were a range of marketing images depicting a range of satirical scenarios. But these don't - only women's victimization and sexualization.
