Beta Patch V.1.0.5 Now Available
Hi everyone,

Continuing on our beta patch release cadence, today we present you with version 1.0.5 which includes a number of bug fixes but also some of the most highly requested features.

This is a roll-up release, so all previous updates from 1.0.3 and 1.0.4 are already baked into this version.

Please note, we are aware of the many smaller bugs and feature requests from the previous beta threads. They've already been logged at Capcom and QLOC, so there's no need to repeat the same items here if you've already reported them in earlier threads. Those will be reviewed and considered in the next patch if they're feasible or if they're significant enough without breaking the game.

As always, we'd like to keep this thread civil and focused on reporting new issues but it'd be also great to hear both positive and constructive feedback for the new fixes that have been rolled into this update. Hopefully no new bugs! :)

How to access Beta
  • From your Steam ‘LIBRARY’ list, right-click on Resident Evil 4 / Biohazard 4 and select 'Properties'
  • Select the ‘BETAS’ tab.
  • Type RE4BETAoptin105 (case-sensitive) in the 'Enter beta access code' field and then click CHECK CODE.
  • Now, select "beta-public – 1.0.5" from the pull-down menu and click CLOSE.
  • Wait for the Steam client to finish downloading the patch.
  • Launch Resident Evil 4 / Biohazard 4 and verify that 1.0.5 is visible on the bottom right section of the ‘Press any key’ title screen.

Change log
Fixes & Tweaks:
  • Specular highlight and bump mapping effect that was missing on the Xbox 360 version is now implemented in the Steam version
  • Implemented new stereo/positional audio for in-game sound effects
  • Your right hand comes off?
  • Fixed handgun aim jumping to the right for Modern K&M setting
  • Improved flares and yellow glow for torches, lamps, etc.
  • Fixed the spotlight passing through the wall during the jet-ski sequence
  • Disabled warm color filter after the "church puzzle"
  • Fixed mouse sensitivity during Del Lago charge
  • Fixed QTE difficulty for breaking enemies' grip while using mouse

New Feature:
  • Added vibrations to machine guns in Separate Ways/Another Order, Assignment Ada and Mercenaries.

House Rules
Please keep this thread clean and focused specifically on the aforementioned fixes/additions for the purpose of collecting feedback based on your experience with this beta.

Any off-topic rants or confrontational replies that derail the thread will be removed as it becomes very difficult to collate feedback. Thanks for your understanding.

Once we see enough thumbs up with the fixes and tweaks (and not break anything else along the way!), the patch will be made public without password protection.

About Save Data...
Save data is compatible between public version and beta version.
While we do not anticipate the patch to introduce fatal bugs, we recommend backing up your save file just to be safe.

Save file is located in the following Steam installation directory:
(xxxxxxxx is a number unique to your Steam User ID)

…\\Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxx\254700\remote\savegame00.sav

Reminder...
As a friendly reminder, please also check the Tips thread to get the most performance out of your system, especially for laptop users with switchable graphics and/or systems that do not meet the Minimum and Recommended System Requirements.

Posting Feedback
IMPORTANT: Please provide the following information when posting in this thread.

A) Your System Specs (please be as specific as possible)
1) CPU name and model
2) Graphics card/chip model
3) Video driver version number
4) System memory size
5) OS version (Windows 7, 8, 64-bit/32-bit, etc.)
6) OS language
7) Motherboard/chipset, if known (or if a laptop, make/model)
8) Game settings (fps, resolution, anti-aliasing, refresh rate, etc.)

*Optionally, it would be very helpful if you can also generate[www.google.com] and post a link to your dxdiag file -- a file generated from DirectX Diagnostics Tool -- which provides detailed hardware, software, and driver setup for your PC.

B) Specific issue
Please share the specific issue and the area where you are experiencing the said behavior.

C) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible
This step in particular is super helpful for the development team. The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the team can reproduce the error state and (hopefully) fix the issue.

Reproducible Crashes
If you are experiencing crashes repeatedly in the same area (such as the swamp area), there is a chance that your anti-virus software may be deleting important game files. If so, please try the following steps in order to isolate the issue:
1) Disable or temporarily shut down the anti-virus software
2) Open Steam client, right-click on Resident Evil 4 from Library, and select Properties
3) Click Local Files tab and select 'Verify integrity of game cache..."
4) Once the verification process completes, launch the game and verify if the crash still occurs (make sure to keep the anti-virus software turned off during this test)

Please also check the following two Steam Support articles which covers crashes as it relates to anti-virus software and other 'hidden' Windows processes that may interfere with the game and/or Steam client.

1. Programs Which May Interfere with Steam
2. Antivirus software reports Steam games are malicious

We look forward to your feedback!

So far:

Ganados voices are positional now, but not the footsteps unfortunately.

Shaders are working great.

Modern Aim default position too far to the right AGAIN, using KB+M (guess this mode really is that buggy and will never be fixed)

Amazing work! Unfortunately the annoying film grain came back (could be removed by a community mod), but nonetheless, excellent!

Awesome work. It's nice to know that even with the limited budget you guys really do care about fixing the game up. I think it's safe to say this is by far the best version of the game now.

Riot gun aim jumps up or down (depending on which direction you aim quickly enough) on Modern.
Awesome! it's seriously so awesome that you guys enabled the shader effect :) everyone has been asking fof it for some time. thank the guys at qloc for actually listening to the problems and adding additional stuff like the shaders.

edit:wow im dumb. was playing in 30fps. still getting slowdowns during the first cabin, jumping out of first cabin 2nd floor window. in 60fps ect.

Any chance on getting DOF added? Don't waste this opportunity... Please.

You really don't want that effect, it was really more of a blurring filter and just destroyed the Image Quality.

Would look even worse at high-resolution.

This means it was fixed the missing glow when you're aligned in front of the light?

the aiming doesn't seem far to the right as of now.
