You wont get it till you hit the Engineers Palace, and then you have to beat the boss to get the skill for it. You will know you are in the right spot from the electrical energy shooting everywhere.
got it. fought the incredibly annoying boss battel with the teleporting monk woman....kinda misspleased with the doubel jump. first of all, it's a spel...comon man! why not just make you tap "jump" twice?! same goes for ice spell, but that is for anothe disscusion. the worst part about it though is that is frezzes you in the air...ok, so mabye it is ment to do that to make it more difficult to do some puzzels, but it just feels so lame. no flow at all, and then again, you don't get it until alot later in the game anyway so it docnt really matter if it makes platforming much esier. you already have done the hardest platforming parts of the game (havent compleated the entier game yet, so i might be wrong XD)

But if they're only ever puzzle essential, its not that key whether they're a spell or not as you usually won't be doing anything else during the puzzles. That's just my opinion at least, I'm not the dev.

um...enemis can interupt you and it is verry annoying to have to switch all the spell back and foruth all the time. why not just use the B button ( xbox 360 controler) and use it for evey puzzel spell. it woudl make it alot more convinient, but ofcorse, still have the option to assaign them as you main spells
Well what I mean is, if you're trying to do a puzzle, you should be clearing the enemies in the area anyways. And there is a quick magic switch. B is also Block if I recall.

you mean block+magic? ye it bings up all the spells and yes you can swith them on the fly, BUT, what woudl be even better is if there was a seperat thing for puzzel ensential spells ONELY! for exampel; holding the B (or whatever button. does not really matter) and then just presing up, down, left or right as an input for the spell you whant. like if you whant to do fire fist spell (or whatever the name) just hold B and press right or left. whant to use the teleportation spel? hold B and press up or somthing. you get the ide. just have a seperat circle of spells for puzzel spells. though the double jump shoudl be activated by just taping the jump button twice, and mabye even have the option to turn it off.
Ah I see, so you want just a different magic control system instead and not how it is now.

(sigh) no no no. i like that you can switch them on the fly, but i woudl like a seperat selection where you have ONELY the puzzel essential spells. like, the ice piller, fire fist, telerpotation spell and etc.
An option to customize the hotkeys would be really neat. But I'd just keep that as a suggestion. I don't really need it.
You don't need the puzzle spells that much. Try to only use them when they're necessary, and you'll see that you don't need so many switching.
I think that part of the game's charm resides on the fact that you have to be switching spells on the fly and taking care enough to not being harassed while doing the puzzle (You can just kill the enemies before doing the puzzle and there is no problem). I like the system just how it's made. It's just my opinion =).
That's exactly how I think it should be done. The "Puzzle" spells aren't magic, but another branch of skills. Then it's a button + up, down, left or right.

I think one of the the Castlevania games did this and it's great. Maybe Aria/Dawn of Sorrow or Portrait of Ruin. Maybe they all did it...

Yeah, just tapping jump as in most of these games would be better. Not saying to just rip everything else off but they're good mechanics.

I also agree about the Air Jump "locking" you. It restricts your forward movement too much.
It's not like double jump is just an element to solve platforming puzzles. It usually enhances your mobility in general, that means in battle as well. As such it is really stupid to make something as basic as this a spell. Imagine they'd have made the wall jump a spell. Would have been just as bad.

There are many good things about this game, but making double jump a spell was a bad design choice in my opinion.
