[SOLVED] Local Coop - Dual Controller
Is it possible to play FORCED in local coop with two (wired) xbox controllers? I can't seem to figure out how to assign a controller as input device for the second player. It's set to keyboard/mouse and does not seem to be changeable in any way.

solution: In the multiplayer view screen, press the 'select' button on the second controller to add the second player, which will then have controller as input device.

If you use the controller when it says "Press any key" then it assigns the first player to that controller. Otherwise you should be able to press the picture with the keyboard and mouse under your avatar when creating or joining a co-op game.

I have the same problem. I bought it to play local co-op with my son but it's only allowing 1 of the controllers to work.
I went through the controller setup for each controller but when I create a co-op game I can only join as a 2nd player with keyboard and mouse. Clicking the keyboard mouse picture gives an error that controllers can only be setup from single player.
I would have been happy playing it offline through a LAN connection too but it only seems to support steam multiplayer, not LAN. I'd have to buy another copy of the game on a different steam account.

I have the same problem. I bought the game to play local co-op with an irl friend.
Can't select 2 gamepads. We can select 1 keyboard+mouse and 1 gamepad.
Because of some bugs in game, a very important command of the gamepad can't work after 2 hours of testing/setup. Which makes the game unplayable for us. (the keyboard+mouse had no problem).
This game is buggy and not finished yet. At least for some gamepads. I don't know about anything else since we were able to go until the class selection and not further because of a bug which is not resolved yet.

Works fine with my two wireless 360 controllers. Those who don't have official xbox controllers may want to try one of those programs to emulate them with your generic ones.
I'm sure someone else remembers the name but I'll look for it.

This should be noted on the steam page. I bought this game because it said Local Co-op and Full controller Support. every other game I've bought that has these two signs let me play with more than 1 controller. This shouldn't be labeled as full controller support if it can't local coop 2 controllers at the same time.

Thank you for advice butI tried the 360 emulator. The bug(s) are still there. My pad is recognised and some command are not working in game making it unplayable.
I hope it will be corrected quickly.
Damn, I thought it was a problem from early access games only ...

It does work with two wired 360 pads. I've just done it. They had to both be plugged in before starting the game, and player 1 had to press a button first on the 'press any key' screen.

I use two wired official xbox360 controllers, but don't get it to work.
They are both plugged in when pc starts & steam starts & FORCED starts.
First controller presses a key at the intial 'press any key' screen.
I create a new multiplayer game where only first player is automatically added.
I click on 'join' for the second player, which then automatically shows keyboard/mouse controls for second player.
When clicking on the keyboard/mouse icon of player two, I get an error denoting that I cant change input methods for that player.

So since it is working for you guys, I am probably doing something wrong. Care to tell me what you guys do differently?

Try to join the game using the select button on the controller.

Thanks, that's indeed the way to go. Adding second player by pressing the select button on the controller...

I was going to say all I did was turn on the game and it worked, but looks like you fixed it.

It's 2022 and it's still not fixed so it never will be.

I've just been trying to get 2 xbox one controllers to work on one pc and found this recent post from groggyalgorithm which worked for me:

"change the "Steam Input Per-Game Setting" to forced off" in the steam settings
