a quick internet search provides these results http://www.gametracker.com/search/bf2/US/ I would say bf2 is FAR from dead. bf3 was a major disappointment and people went back to 2, maybe 4 will be better.

Do yourself a favor and buy this game. Makes BF3 look like a COD knock off (is it?) IN game commander with a REAL communications structure, and people still dedicated to gaming and not screaming.

Played BF2 for like 5 years and none of my minutes spent ingame do I regret.
Most fun I've ever had in a game to be honest.

Where the hell are you guys at? All the servers are popuated by bots, and people who spam the enemy sighted button OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. No teamwork, zero communication, lots of lag. Blew 20 bucks because game monitor said that people were still active, but idk about that.

you are correct. look for ppl playing Project Reality <-- only active BF2 community that's worth spending time with ... most have moved on to other games and only connect when their buddies want to play as well

I couldn't agree more with you, BF3 sucks, and BF4 is just gonna be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ copy...
I'm gonna hold on to my Battlefield 2, it really is one of the best shooters of all time!
Most fun i have ever had besides Counter-Strike :)

imo the mods alone make BF2 still viable ... sure the MP aspect is pretty much dead, but that is to be expected. COOP rules in BF2 at this stage.
