Don't know about normal BF2 but the Project Reality mod is very much alive. In fact PR is getting close to a major new update. Frankly since I got into PR I can't stand normal BF2. It just lacks so many things (less than half the factions, fewer weapons, much smaller maps, almost no teamwork, few players use VOIP, no Mumble, less then half the kit types, more poorly done weapons, doesn't have upcoming 100+ player map support, and overall feels too gameish).

bf2 is a little bit dead
servers are only in america and china/japan with ping over 100
but mods arent dead

You'r totally wrong, there is European servers too in both conquest & infantery, but yeah it's not like in 2009...

if you know which servers to play on, its not dead at all. You can play all day every day if you want to. One Option is a great 64p, and ATF is usually a good 32p with quick rotation. The chinese servers are high ping but usually very populated and fast multiple vehicle respawn.

in the game there are frikken asses who play.. they run and jump around your weapon sucks and they throw c4 and grenades and spam everything.. and you cant do anything... pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up

That's the battlefield experience.
Be happy they aren't groping the ammo crate with an infinite number grenades flying out of their hand, like it was in BF1942.
