How to minimize/go into windowed mode?
Is it possible to minimize this game, or go into windowed mode on mac?

this is also what I was wondering since most the time when you have already established your game you would mosty do nothing and wait. and w/o minimizing or going into windowed mode. it was kinda getting irritating
See FAQ for how to have a windowed mode.
it seems the window mode for mac no longer works on maverick xD (tried option +enter)
That has been true for many updates. I should probably take that method out but I keep hoping they will add it back in. At this point I am not sure the key command method works for the PC either.
I would love to mess up the config. but sadly my knowledge on mac isn't as good as my knowledge in windows and I might end up corrupting my save files
Editing the config file is pretty straightforward. First back up the file then open it with TextEdit. You only need to change 3 lines in the file. Here are my values under <display>:
<width value="1229" />
<height value="691" />
<fullscreen value="false" />
These are particular to my screen size on the smallest MacBook Air so you might need to play with the width and height values to get what you want.
@ehyder are you using OSX maverick? I can't seem to make it work. that or I'm just to illitirate when it comes to mac
I'm using OS X 10.10 (14A389) on MacBook Pro 13" and there is no way to minimize the game.

Standard hotkeys like cmd+H, cmd+M simply do nothing (except for cmd+Q). Gestures don't work as well, so I can't bring the mission control to the front or slide to other fullscreen apps.
Hotkey from FAQ cmd+Enter and alt+Enter causes the game to flash like it is trying to do something, but after that nothing changes and the game continues running fullscreen.
Also I tried to change the config file, but the game overrides my changes after I start it, so I can't start it in the windowed mode.

Actually, it's very frustrating.
I ran into the issue with the file automatically reverting. As I recally you absolutely must make sure the line about 'fullscreen value' has been changed to 'false' from 'true' or else the values will revert.
I do the following

1) open "config.xml"
2) change "fullscreen" tag to "false"
3) save the file
4) close the file
5) open the file again to make sure changes are saved – and they really are
6) start the game from steam, it starts in fullscreen mode
7) exit the game
8) open config.xml and see that "fullscreen" tag is reverted back to "true"

Is there anything else I can do to make sure that I edited the config file in the proper way?
Just checking the obvious: Did you also change the height and width values before exiting? Also, try starting the game with synchronize files off and start the game from your machine, not from Steam.

Here is the code in my file:
[noparse}<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<root>
<display>
<width value="1440" />
<height value="900" />
<fullscreen value="false" />
<fps value="false" />
<max_virtual_height value="1080" />
</display>
<audio>
<ambient value="0.700000" />
<music value="0" />
<sound value="1" />
</audio>
<game>
<max_resources_count value="999" />
<pause_on_focus_lost value="true" />
<disable_detail_degradation value="false" />
<two_touch_scroll value="false" />
</game>
</root>[/noparse]

If I can think of anything else I will post it; it has been a while since I successfully changed the file.

I tried launching the game from binary file, not from Steam. Now it causes system crash. May be it is some kind of a problem only related to a several amount of mac models. My config file is exactly the same as ehyder wrote above.

How should I send a mac os crash report to the team?
