This game isnt about fast, its about steady. Build fast will ensure a quick death of the population.

Ahh...spread out, you will have to monitor housing and open close houses as houses vs families goes up and down on the 1st tab of town hall. Start the blacksmith early and just keep upping tools cap. If you run out of tools in uneducated its over or really hard to come back from. Build an extra blacksmith or 2 and the same for cloths. Once you get achievement then you can start to educate and then close a BS or 2. If you arent doing the isolated achievement at same time then build extra woodcutters and trade firewood for tools or iron.

Uneducated means the population will do everything slower. They will use up tools and clothing faster, will take longer to do things.

When I did the achievements, I did them all on one map ( not mountainman) and in order. Getting to 300 then 400 was really a job in balancing things out.

Watch house vs families because as the population ages and dies sometimes you can end up with more houses than families which means only a single person will move into a house and then no kids from that house. Always want roughly 2 houses to 3 families ratio (60 houses/100 families) somewhere in the rough range.

Just treat your people a little more patiently and give them small tasks at a time. It is underestimated how much difference "educated" population makes in the game.

It's extremely achievable, I've managed it on a medium mountainous map, hard, harsh, etc., but that was really difficult. (Recommended only for the masochistic.)

Education baby! I'm trying to cover an entire large map with my city. I have 933 people (year 88). 100% Clothed/100% Educated! http://cloud-4.steamusercontent.com/ugc/39742853654451072/05B7D3B3BAFB70E50F5859A75D07FF30FBBCFD5E/

Yes but OP is trying for the uneducated achiement.

OP: 5x and 10x speed if you feel a bit impatient and you feel comfortable with the game mechanics.
