I said I knew nothing about the rifle, so I didn't know that it was only field tested. I misunderstood what the OP was saying, as I skipped the part where he said "-Nobody- on the frontlines used them." I was more focused on the second part of his response.
MP-18i while small production between 5 and 10 thousand is still larger than the Mondragon rifle which Germany bought around 3,600. MP-18is saw a lot of service with the Stosstruppen in 1918. Mondragon rifle saw field trials only. It was found to jam and be rather bad in the trenches, numbers seen would be in the 10s and not the 1,000s.
All the weapons in game had a good chunk avaliable for the infantry.

MP18 was the main weapon for german stormtroops which became fairly common later in the war.
